Wayne Bridge has withdrawn from the England squad (assuming he would have been picked) saying his position is untenable.
I sympathise wih the lad, but I’m not sure I would have let that toe-rag Terry ruin my chances of playing in the World Cup.
A couple of positives:-
1, he is now free to refuse to shake Terry’s hand and/or kick shyte out of him on Saturday morning – should boost Sky’s viewing figures
2, maybe opens the door for Baines, though knowing the England set-up we will probably try Lescott there, or Nicky Shorey, or Stuart Pearce or Alec Lindsay before he gets a look-in.
From what I can gather Terry is alleged to have had this affair AFTER Bridge & his missus broke up
Now whilst I consider it to be a bit of a no-no copping off with a mates ex it certainly aint worth gettin that het up about or worth sacrificing a possible world cup place for
If bridge had still been seeing this French woman then fair enough but as he wasn’t I don’t see what the big fuss is about
I think you hit the nail on the head there Tyldsley, you dont know what happened and you have no way of knowing what Bridge must be feeling about the publicity……
Although Baines is miles better than Bridge anyway, so debate should be academic, if I was Bridge I wouldn’t let what Terry did ruin my chances of playing in the World Cup. Should be Terry feeling awkward not him. I’d let the t****er stew a bit.
Can’t believe what Bridge has done…..one of the most unprofessional things I’ve ever seen (and that includes Zaki disappearing 4 times). He’s thrown away the chance to play in the World Cup with a team that has a good chance of going a long way, because he doesn’t like 1 of his 22 potential team mates. If he is so proud to be a footballer he should put aside his personal differences for the good of his team (or country in this case).
Incidentally, what would he have done if he were still a Chelsea player, put in a transfer request and refused to train?

All i can think is that Bridge wanted to get back with this french woman & confided in Terry etc.. & all the time Terry was havin it away with her
If its just someone you know copping off with an ex then I aint sure I’d sacrifice a possible world cup place coz of it. Like you say though each to their own
I’m also of the opinion however that Baines should be in that squad ahead of any other left back with the possible exception of Ashley Cole. I heard some muppet/media “expert” on the radio yesterday saying he wasn’t sure whether either of the other alternatives (Baines & Warnock) were good enough & that they’d go with Milner at left back?????? :o :o :o

Don’t want to come across as all Claire Rayner like, but I think it was more than just copping off with an ex. It was the mother of his child and he was hoping to get back with her, if you believe half of the rags. Whether he was wise to do that, slack-fannied slapper that she clearly is, is his call. But as his so-called best mate, Terry was likely to have know they were his feelings.
That said, Bridge has done nothing wrong and I would have been tempted to turn up, head held high, and let Terry squirm. And gone right through him at the first opportunity in training.
As for Baines, you just know they’ll pick Lescott

That’s pretty much what I said in my first paragraph
“As for Baines, you just know they’ll pick Lescott”
Unfortunately I think you’re probably reet. Criminal if it happens though. Still if he does pick him then that’s my prophecy on his debut of “He’ll play for England one day” come true – if only I’d tried to back that up with a bet at the bookies!!
does it mean this french bird is not allowed to shag anyone else for the rest of her life. well thats what the mard fcker bridge wants to happen. soft sht. its life, get on with it. no wonder he left chelsea for a northern club, half the team had been thro her, terry was the 6th in the queue.
I mean 2nd or 3rd maybe ….but 6th – must have had a minge that was stinking like fleetwood fish market and as sloppy as as bucket of east end happy hammer eels
