The rest of this season that is.
The transfer window is now closed and I think we’ve done alright out of it.
As promised, no-one left that we didn’t want to get rid of (Kingson, DeRidder, etc.).
We now have a squad, not just a team, that can push on for the second half of the season. There’s competition in practically every position and we have twice as many strikers as we did when I sat down to my cornflakes this morning.
The core of the squad is a young, talented group of players.
As a first eleven:
Kirkland
Boyce/Bramble/Caldwell/Figueroa
Diame/Thomas/McCarthy/Nzogbia
Rodellega/MosesAnd as a second eleven:
Stojkovic
Melchiot/Gohouri/Scharner/Edman
Gomez/Sinclair/Watson/Koumas
Scotland/MorenoOf course, both sets of players could [and probably will] play 4-5-1, but 4-4-2 is still an option. I could easily see Moreno starting ahead of Moses, or Scharner regaining his place in midfield. We’ll have to wait and see over the coming weeks.
However, I think Martinez and Whelan have done us proud this time and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
For all the doom and gloom mongers out there I simply ask that you give this team a chance before spouting your rubbish again on here.
1 February 2010 at 9:49 pm #20867Got to agree with you N.P !
Held onto the decent core of our squad; signed some fresh keen blood, now let’s give it a bloody go to get safety !
Think Moses is a snip, compared to the £7m plus add ons for the unproven Ruben.
Can’t wait; must get a ticket to see us kick owd spud yed on Saturday.
1 February 2010 at 10:06 pm #20870I couldn’t agree more NP
They are both exciting signings and I can’t wait to see them in action. Hats off to Roberto and Dave Whelan; whilst other clubs in our position are panicking and signing journeymen with limited skills, we are signalling our intention to play our way out of trouble.
I know youtube can be misleading at times but if Moreno is a quarter as good as he looks then he will do for me. He’s not exactly Kevin Davies is he? :o
1 February 2010 at 10:13 pm #20871AnonymousThink this is the best January transfer window we’ve had Moses a fantastic signing, and Moreno lets hope he can recapture his form from when he was younger and bang some goals in for us, there both really gud tallents and hopefully we will see us close off games and pick some valuable points up.
1 February 2010 at 10:31 pm #20872didnt think we had a chance in hell of signing moses but fair play to whelan and bobby for selling the club to him, must have seen summat he liked, also probably got more chance of games here than any were else he was linked with, dont know nowt about moreno but looks good on you tube(not hard!),he`s another striker and he`s young, well done wigan,we have been busy compared to other clubs to.cant make sunderland game but roll on sjoke at home and lets hope for a few more on than saturday please. :D
