Your being far too diplomatic Ali lad, topic should be titled English clubs on top in Europe. British means involving the horrid sweaties and the heathens wanted to stay in or at least that daft bint Sturgeon does. Feck em lets revel in English football being so good at present

11 May 2019 at 3:52 pm #178753To be honest most of the players in these “English” teams won’t know the national anthem.
They aren’s exactly English, are they?
But somehow the fans of the clubs bang on how English football is so great.11 May 2019 at 5:13 pm #178757If you are talking about the leagues in England then I think they are the best.
There are loads of “foreign” players in the top Spanish, German, Italian, French leagues etc.
How many non-english players have played for us, struggled but then gone on to play for decent European League and done well. Andy Delort and Andreas Granquist spring to mind.
I’ve always said it and so have many others, the Premier League is the toughest league in the world and like an earlier poster said, would love to see how Messi would fair given a couple of seasons to adapt. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!11 May 2019 at 5:16 pm #178758To be honest most of the players in these “English” teams won’t know the national anthem.

But somehow the fans of the clubs bang on how English football is so great.Spanish football is awash with Brazilians and eastern Europeans so is every other foreign leagues. English football is the best because we have and have always had the best pyramid system. The Prem is so good because the EFL is also so good. No other league in the world has competition like we do. La Liga, Seria A, Bundersliga etc don’t get Milwall and Bradford reaching cup finals or Wigan Athletic beating the best team in the land 3 times in the same cup competition. Every league in the World has foreign players who make it better but the English infrastructure is a million miles ahead of the rest.
11 May 2019 at 7:50 pm #178759bet you could name a pretty good latics team made up of historical foreign players….. most of our best were probably not english
