Jewell inherited a mess similar to the one we have now with an oversized mercenary type bunch who spat in his face metaphorically speaking until he weeded the rubbish out and went on to success we not see again for many years.
the three managers all contributed massively to our recent history however it was Paul Jewell who got us two promotions in three years to take us to the big time where we went on to have 8 seasons and appearances in two big cup finals,Europe and a major trophy to boot.
for that golden period ( 2002- 2006 ) he gets the gong for me although I’m sure some would disagree.
PJ along with Chris Hutchings had the purple’ist of purple patches in that time with us and I was amazed he flopped so badly after he left. There was a time I thought he was nailed on to be Liverpool manager somewhere down the line. Got that wrong :lol: :lol: :lol:
