What budget ?
Maloney gets the loose change from the £350k sale of Josh Stones. Just enough to buy the team a hot Bovril after training.
Danson has killed off the ambition that this club has always thrived upon. I just don’t trust him and if there are no signs of improvement before next summer, I will protest in the best way possible; boycott the Brick Stadium until he proves his allegiance
10 January 2025 at 1:22 am #204721Maloney states yesterday that Hugills return was purely financial as he wanted to keep him……Oh F #### off. Said with our budget we can’t afford to have 3 no 9’s on the books !!!!!….3.???….Obviously no applied mathematics degree !…By his own admission when recruiting Taylor he stated he was a no 10 who’s talent is to link up with a forward. So where’s the 3…Stones gone leaves Goodwin as only true striker…..Worse off now than before window opened. Absolutely f####### embarrassing….sustainability????….this is way beyond that…..what club in the EFL has only 1 striker in their squad??….Unless he now classes our plethora of wingers as such?……..How skint are we?…..Without a doubt Bamber Bridges budget exceeds ours…..
10 January 2025 at 10:08 am #204723That’s the point Mr B we aren’t skint, we have a billionaire owner that is as tight as cramp with WAFC, he could put a stop to this in a heartbeat, no interest or ambition for the club whatsoever!
This ownership are taking the piss now, yet the happy clappers still defend them.
Fuck the EFL
10 January 2025 at 11:42 am #204726So why didn’t they send Hugill back and put Stones instead of bringing in Goodwin who we again know nothing about.
I’ll tell you why, money, there was money on the table Stones and I bet Danson was like Mutley “yeah…yeah….yeah…yeah…” simple as that.
We could have developed Stones and possibly sold on for more. Not all home grown young players go on to bigger and better things I get that and they all don’t train on and develop but that’s the gamble every small club takes part in
Well every bar us
Regarding Payne, get him on the bench every week 10-15 here and there learn him at this fookin club not some low non league give the lad minutes.
Maloney’s come out and said, I can’t rely on him as he’s only young, I agree but Maloney listen m8 no one expects him to play twice a week every week, give him minutes learn amongst “OUR” team but he’s ok go out on loan and play twice a week but not here.
FFS one or the other or stop bullsh!tting us fans.
So tell me this, why the fcuk do we bring in an army of 19-20 year old lads from other clubs, lads with zero experience, no minutes other than academy level but our own 19-20 year olds are too fcukin young to play?.
I’m lost, confused, we might as well simply scrap the youth set up and charge other clubs a fee to play for us.
Let’s see what midfielders we bring in, youth academy Preston? Blackburn ? Or we going top table another Utd whirlwinder ?.
It’s simple, the good young lads of our own? bring them in slowly like we did with Aasgaard regular squad member, the not so sure young lads, out on loan and for fcukin fcuk sake stop stop stop bringing in average young lads no better than our own who have zero benefit to our club in the long run.
Develop our own? You gotta be taking the p*ss surely.
I’ll tell you how much our own developed players mean to this club,
Jordan Flores was at the Wrexham game and they were singing his name, I rest my case11 January 2025 at 10:18 am #204730If I was a billionaire I would be reluctant to give Maloney a penny. He would be out and Shaun Dyche in there tomorrow, two proven strikers, a battling midfielder would follow, the stadium would be back in our rightful name, the Rugby would be at Orrell and we would be heading for promotion soon. But Im not so just expect more and more of this shit show.
11 January 2025 at 4:25 pm #204731If that’s your plan Donny, I’ll buy you a lottery ticket
11 January 2025 at 6:11 pm #204732So still crying out for strikers and a left back from bottom of league 3 arrives on a 3 and half year contract. Cannot write the script.
So it’s an unproven right back, a right wing player with no goals and assists this season in 18 matches, a left back from bottom of the pyramid who isn’t suited to the passing out game and a striker without a goal scoring record.
Some bloody window this is.12 January 2025 at 9:01 am #204735A forward is clearly not Maloney’s priority. He prefers widemen and midfielders (Aasgaard) all contributing with goals very Martinesque.
Look, I ain’t gonna slate or praise any signings till I see them play and how Maloney uses them. Mellish ?, could be a brilliant signing.
A rough n tumble defensive midfielder who can play left back but you gotta question why has he been at Carlisle for so long and never stepped up in level ? hopefully he ads some bite we clearly need in the middle.
So who’s off ? Robinson? poss Kerr ??. I can tell you this, someone will have to make way by leaving.
My only argument is,
If we’re going to bring in say some young average 18-19-20 year old from say Leicester Palace academy then fook them off and use our own and stop saying our own aren’t ready when the incoming is no fookin better and never played a minute of competitive football. We *HAVE* to develop our own young lads if we’re to survive and become any were near self sufficient.
Anyway, we’ll see, hopefully the signings make can do a job and hopefully push for promotion next year because surely that has to be the plan or is Danson’s level L1?12 January 2025 at 10:58 am #204738Sadly any smallish club from L1 that gets promoted to the championship to survive there has to have very deep pockets as we have found out in recent times.
Until they disable parachute payments that league has now become Premier League 2 as we all feared it would.
We are in my opinion now a nursery club for the big guns and at best L1 with the odd cup run.
I wish I could be more positive but fear more of the same in the years to come.
Watched a rerun of a superb game yesterday versus Arsenal in November 2005.
On that evening in the table Latics were the second best team in the country , it was like watching a dream , full stadium and a very exciting vibrant Latics team.
How times change.12 January 2025 at 11:03 am #204739I reckon we should get used to L1 no matter what nonsense the ownership come up with.
Look at it this way, once we have become sustainable is Danson going to start splashing the cash for better players to get us to the championship then spend more money to keep us there? (That would probably run in to millions)
Think about it! To keep us in mid table in this league and ticking over is loose change and that will do for Danson, he won’t spend or show ambition now what makes people think he’s going to spend big next season or the season after that?
Fuck the EFL
12 January 2025 at 11:15 am #204740Look, if by some miracle we did end up gaining promotion we’d be on Rightmoves Zoopla and Purple Bricks the day after
“CLUB FOR SALE:- NO GROUND”
12 January 2025 at 11:04 pm #204744I think Maloney is playing a really big gamble.
I think we might yet slip into a relegation places battle. I think it’s going to be very close…but it need not be so.
To hear that Maloney isn’t getting a penny of the Stones money…staggering. I was thinking we’d add about £150k to it and maybe have £500k to look for a decent striker. I was thinking a bit of ambition, approach Millwall and enquire about Langstaff. He couldn’t stop scoring in League 2 for Notts County, but has found it hard in the Championship. Even on loan with us ‘helping to get him firing again’, I thought it was worth a pint. But we’ve no genuine ambition as a club. It’s all very ‘meh’, isn’t it? I don’t even know who are next home games are against, such has my interest wained.
13 January 2025 at 11:44 am #204745We’re the same as every other club out there, all searching for a 20+ goal merchant up front, even Arsenal are in the same boat.
A club like us simply cannot afford anyone who’s shown the slightest ability to rattle a few home, we would simply be outgunned at the till.
We have to either, land lucky in the loan market and pick up someone on the bench or a young lad i.e. Goodwin Taylor
Or
Bring one of our own through the ranks. The way we’re shaping up right now loan striker is pretty much our only option for the foreseeable future.Long gone are the days of splashing the cash infact it’s the exact opposite rightly or wrongly as there’s a case for both sides
My only gripe is, for us to build and move forward we have to reinvest money from the sale of any players. We have 2 more big money outgoings players left to sell then that’s it, the conveyor belt stops and there’s no more on the horizon.
Again I end up harking on about the youth set up, scouting, and the yes bringing them through the ranks gradually.
Hughes Aasgaard & Tickle S.Smith weren’t overnight sensations there was alot of time, money and hardwork put in from both the youth staff and the lads themselves which then enabled the lads to quickly integrate into the first team and this has to happen again with the like of Payne.I’m afraid that’s the club we have to become sharpish and bring in less kids in on loan from other clubs who simply let us improve them and hopefully their value so they can sell for decent dollar.
We need to find lads, bring them to the club offer top coaching and facilities and churn them out by the dozen and the very best ? fast track them.
It wasn’t that long ago we had a cracking youth policy and setup and we also had similar in the early 80’s. We need to rekindle those days and regain our youth mojo policy
Or
What the hell are we meant to do ?, if we’re to survive on pennies we have to make our own we have no other option.
If we do not invest money in the youth set up and the owner doesn’t invest then we’re does the money come from?13 January 2025 at 2:08 pm #204749Most certainly wont be selling out the East stand to aways if we get through the FA cup to face Fulham.
one sheet of the North will be sufficient based on what they used to bring.13 January 2025 at 5:19 pm #204751Most certainly wont be selling out the East stand to aways if we get through the FA cup to face Fulham.
one sheet of the North will be sufficient based on what they used to bring.I’m actually made up with that draw thats if we beat Mansfield of course, after Goodburns shenanigans around this time last year.
I couldn’t give two hoots that we didn’t draw one of the Prem big boys any money made would have gone straight to pay off our debt to Danson not on strengthening the playing squad so couldn’t care less!
Fuck the EFL
