How does that leave things then?
Am I right in thinking that the places aren ‘t decided on goal difference if points are level. Is it based on the results against each other (I.e. the side you are level on points with)
Or is it results against the top team
Or do they take off the results against the bottom side
Or what????29 November 2013 at 2:10 am #123950Won’t matter. If we can’t put ball in’t opinion bag we’re fooked !!
29 November 2013 at 2:18 am #123951In answer to my own question, a quick search shows that if 2 or more teams are level on points they use the following criteria:
1) points obtained in games between the teams in question
2) goal difference from games between then teams in question
3) number of goals scored by each side in games between the teams in question
4) goals scored away from home in games between the sides in questionSo basically Latics need to win & Zulte need to lose at home against an already qualified Rubin Kazan
Not looking good!!29 November 2013 at 2:28 am #123952Souless, passionless performance.
We got what we deserved.
Bugger all
29 November 2013 at 3:01 am #1239581-1 Wigan keeper gathers ball and looks up for a quick dispatch and nobody interested ! Their keeper gathers ball and they bomb forward and keeper chucks ball with all his strength to one of the 3 players busting a gut to create space thus creating more pressure on us! That I am afraid was the difference, they really wanted it and we for some strange reason couldn’t be arsed despite the scores still being level at the time !
29 November 2013 at 3:17 am #123962Qualification was there for the taking tonight with us already knowing Maribor hadn’t won in Kazan.
We just weren’t up for it tonight; I fear we have thrown away our chances in this group; we have gone from a position of strength to one of weakness in 1 game.
How many corners did we have? Lots..and how many chances from those corners….
Coming away from the ground tonight I heard serious discontent about the manager for the first time. A few moans and groans previously, but tonight discontent at his tactics (no recognised striker from the start, even Holt…) We need to bounce back strongly on Sunday.
29 November 2013 at 3:35 am #123967First half overall I thought we were the better team, despite Zulte starting to control – we could have been 3 or 4 up. But as soon as their equaliser went in the heads dropped, the passion faded and the mistakes started to happen.
And for some reason we came out in the 2nd half with even less fire in the belly – perhaps the manner of their goal hit them hard.
Never have I seen so many Latics players so sluggish and dinterestes in getting back up the field – it was pathetic. Not only are we in serious danger of not qualifying, we could end up finishing bottom of the group.
29 November 2013 at 3:50 am #123970When I got in I had a quick peek at the goals and then it pans over to Coyle who you can lip read saying , “fookin load of rubbish”.
Players look like they can’t be harsed especially with tactics not even Coyle can figure out.
MrWhelan be a good man and relieve Coyle of his duties will ya !. The Wigan of 7 months ago would have tore them to shreds. The Wigan of today couldn’t tear a sheet of bog roll off the hanger. To think now we go to Maribor hoping another team lose. If we lose to Derby I reckon he’ll be gone.
29 November 2013 at 3:58 am #123973Funny you should say that CW, I had intended to write he’d be gone if we crash out of Europe and loose to Bolton….
I toned it down thinking I’d get slated. ]
I know we’re all fooked off tonight, but I do get the feeling the mood is changing about the manager.

:angry:Oh and the manager F***in’ clueless !!!
29 November 2013 at 7:20 pm #124042Why would DW sack him when he only has a 1 year contract? He’ll let him see out the season and then make a decision.
The only way we will sack him is if we are heading towards a relegation fight and even then I think he’ll think twice.
29 November 2013 at 11:19 pm #124058last night could have been one of the best night games in our history, and we blew it. the atmosphere was good and we started well but as soon as they scored heads went down. we have no idea going forward, set pieces are poor, just floating the ball in and hoping someone gets a head on it. iam all for giving the bloke a chance (coyle) but my patience is starting to wear abit thin.

30 November 2013 at 2:36 am #124084There’s a rotund gentleman in ES4 – wears the same trousers every game – gets quite irate at every misplaced pass. Made himself a ‘Martinez Out’ banner a year or two back. He’s probably been to Asda to buy some new crayons today…
