      I believe it has to contain some kind of dead animal for it to be considered an authentic Wigan pie. Butter pies are not a Wigan delicacy.

      oh i dont know about that – i’ve had an odd one or two over the years where the animal content was still kicking.

        Decided to have a Galloways meat pie and buttered barm joe today for dinner (that’s lunch for posh people). Now the last time I tried this combination, some weeks ago, it cost me £1.50. Today I was charged £1.77, an 18% increase.

        I think there’s some exploitation going on here.
