I blame Figueroa. Had he not tried to block Torres’ volley and deflected it, which took the ball onto the post instead of past it for a goal-kick, then Chelsea wouldn’t have score.
I noticed when Caldwell received the ball and went forward, Diame stayed in midfield and eventually when the ball came back he didn’t fall back and was just strolling.
Caldwell managed to get back within five yards of the play by the time the ball went in the net and he had been the highest player up the pitch.
So any number of players could have been back covering. He spotted a chance to out number Chelsea, and i’d rather us be positive because in the long run it will pay off for us.
See it how you want but the man gets 10/10 for showing passion,grit and the ball’s to not just toss it off and hang on for the point, which has been fatal in the past, but to lead from the front and go and try win the game.After 92 mins the ground he covered from box to box should be an example to every other player on what the word desire actually means !!
Having viewed it again on mote and not the dodgy stream Ive changed my mind. Was dead right to continue the run forward and what he probably did wrong was trying to bring it down rather tan putting his head thru it. Had enough back to cover
It was a gamble that didn’t pay off ! Its funny how the rest of the team didn’t seem to want to go bombing forward !! Anyhow its done now and all I can say is we are playing well enough to get something out of our remaining fixtures !
