I said (and got slated as a moaning tvvat) when Caldwell got appointed I said bad choice, not good enough.
For the whole bucket of sh*t situation were in its not just one humongous thing it’s a combo of many.
Yes Danson has failed us, his Ebenezer, a multi billionaire seeking investment approach has landed us at the bottom but I also believe Caldwells Scrabble choice of players is adding massively to our demise.
Saturday highlighted everything. His starting 11 again, finger in the pie toying with team selection again led to us remaining rock bottom of the pile.
Why on Gods earth did we sign Hogan? why !!. He had been with us approx 4-6 weeks and played but no contract. We then waited till 2 weeks “after” the window closes and we sign him.
So were was the posse of clubs surrounding Christopher Park on deadline day for his signature? there was none and Saturday clearly showed why and why MK Dons let him go.
I’m not sure but I cannot remember him touching the ball.
Borrowes, he was our best attacking outlet Saturday against Stevenage and Caldwell decided to replace him and leave a struggling Mellish on the park.
Leaving Walsh Murray on the bench in a rice paper thin attacking squad again made me think ?, what is Caldwell trying to achieve?.
But my gripe is forwards:-
We have 2-3 possibly 4 young lads itching dying to be given a chance and Hogan sees out the 90 with Perkins coming on late to try and grab us an equaliser.
So we’re are “OUR” yes “OUR” young lads ??? . You know “OUR OWN” young lads who will make us self sufficient?.
Moseley, Simms, Cze ?
It simply beggars belief that not one of these are even on the bench and we go with 2 forwards who for me are shocking.
I’ll draw you a comparison for the Cze haters out there, in 5 years Cze’s been at Wigan Perkins has started more games.
At the beginning of the season he gave Cze a chance then that’s it, gone. Wtf does Caldwell expect ? a hatrick every time he’s given a chance ??.
I watch Perkins and seriously I’ve seen better in the Amateur leagues and I’m not just saying that, the lad is as average as it gets but Caldwell prefers him over giving 1 of 3 a regular go up top.
For me and I’ll say it second time round, as a manager Caldwell is a yes man, a poor tactical manager and he will take us down.
Again loyalty with average players and the unwilling to think outside the box will be our undoing
Yes Danson has had a huge part to play but Caldwell isn’t helping. To me and plenty others I’ve not a f**kin clue who what when we’re or why as to what he’s trying to achieve.
It’s time to throw the young lads in up top and rip Hogan’s contract up and he needs to retire.
How many times have we done this over the years?, took on players on their last footballing contract, their last meal ticket.
Caldwell needs to dip into the youth and blood a few lads. A good few of these young lads would run to the end of the earth for their boyhood club were as Hogan would run to the bank

Totally agree with what you’re saying about the young lads they should be given every chance, what infuriated me was last week we played a behind closed door friendly I heard it was Wrexham, Perkins played in that game I believe, David Perkins the assistant coach that is……not Sonny.
Now why would you do that when we have academy lads on the books? That would have been the perfect opportunity for the young lads to play against older experienced players to see how they shaped up plus giving them a bit more experience.
Fuck the EFL
13 October 2026 at 11:56 pm #207919Well this is something and I don’t know why never changes as Wigan, the fear to put young lads in
In the past theres been good reasons as to why young lads struggle to get a chance, say the first team players were older better, more experienced or we might have been in a better league position.
But now ?
We have an owner who buys a club on its knees then excepts it to do well with no money given then says he’s struggling to find outside investment, a billionaire looking for investment for a club he’s just bought
Give me fffing strength honestly
Apparently he used the £600,000 we made to pay off Ryan Lowe.
Now I’ve heard a Keane has gone to Doncaster and the reason why he never came back is,
We couldn’t afford him,
I’m sick of watching our club getting strangled and dry bummed by some filthy rich billionaire who’s sole mission was to get the ground then spit us out to die.
Now we have a manager who’s choosing players who wouldn’t make Garswood starting 11 while our own young hungry lads are left starved of the opportunity.
I said it at the beginning, Caldwell is a piss poor average manager and he players choices and subs highlight this.
I can’t think of a worse squad than this and I’m going way back. In the past we’ve always had one or two good pros or superb young lads who’s been given a chance
Right now between a shit tight dusted owner, a shit manager and the shortest squad in our history this combo will send us straight to non league faster than sh*t off a shovel.
We’re on that slide and this owner does not care. He’ll happily sit back and watch it happen or is he hanging around for Robinson summer coming in before he f**ks off.

14 October 2026 at 6:30 pm #207923I recall a lot of older, experienced but highly paid players in 21/22 and 22/23, but was much emphasis put on youth development under the Bahraini ownership? It takes 3-4 years for a youth policy to start taking effect. Bettoni is the only graduate who made an impact last season and he pissed off to Chelsea. Others like Stones ended up in non league.
If the previous owners did very little bottom up rebuilding after the administration decimated the structure then Danson inherited a crumbling structure build on a bed of straw, which would make the rebuilding process even more difficult.

I get that I think we all do but this ownership have been at the club almost three and a half years not just a few months we haven’t progressed at all in that time.
All the ownership have made is cutbacks after cutbacks, selling off all our assets, redundancies to staff, the club is being run on life support, slippery slope and the fans aren’t happy, something has to give soon one way or the other!
Fuck the EFL
