As the defense hasn’t done at all bad of late, will Caldwell get a game ahead of (more than likely) Gohouri?
I think Booby should stick with the players that have done quite well over the last few games, but are rules, rules and the Captain must play, hmmmm

Keep him on the bench can’t see him getting in to be honest the only change to the defence that needs making his replacing the fig with stam in my opinion
14 October 2010 at 11:21 pm #48711Think he will play when fully fit, big Steve going either right back or in front of back 4 instead of Thomas.

15 October 2010 at 2:30 am #48717since i first saw stam and alcaraz play -i am convinced martinez bought them to play in a more continental system-stam does not look an out and out right full back and alcaraz plays left of a back 3 for his country – now caldwell is back i think martinez will use a back 3 and play stam and figuero as wing backs to get up and down -with the advantage of gohouri and alcaraz behind them when teams attack us out wide.
mc.carthy and diame in the center and 3 up front as now-this was very like the formation martinez used at hartlepool-and it would be very strong away from home -with some tweeks in home games-dependant on the opponents.

nzogbia————–bosselli/di santo———-rodallegaI am liking the thought of this formation. Although I want to see more of Bosselli I think Di Santo would be perfect for the central forward role.

nzogbia————–bosselli/di santo———-rodallegaAlways liked 3-5-2, if you have the right type of wing-back, and I think the two you have mentioned are that type of player.
I’d still like to see Cleverley in there, although it’s not a long-term thing, obviously.

griff dont you think martinez signed cleverley as a straight foward replacement for nzogbia -who to all intents and purpose was on his way out -we now face the prospect of them both going at christmas-unless nzogbia has committed himself for the full season like valencia did.

In which case, I’d put Cleverley in instead of either N’Zogbia or Rodallega, whichever of the two is more pants at the time.

Horc…
So you would drop Rodallega?
15 October 2010 at 7:09 pm #48745Given Caldwell is the Captain, I would expect Martinez to play him, Gohouri will be dropped, unless we play 3 at the back.

I probably would.

Thing is Rodallega has scored a coupe of goals and has proven he can put the ball in the net even though played out of his preferred position.
