27 March 2013 at 3:21 pm #106409why do we keep letting contracts run down? hugo, diame and now alcaraz all good players who have gone on a free
You can’t force them to sign a new contract. The trick is to try to get a fee for them if you spot early enough that they aren’t going to sign.
27 March 2013 at 5:24 pm #106427I like Scharner he talks a good talk.
Scharner told the Wigan Evening Post: “I wouldn’t like to put a figure on it, but my own target is to play for a few more years yet.
“Where that will be, I don’t know.
“But it’s not the right time to be speaking about my future, to be honest.
“I am totally focused on the matches between now and the end of the season, and nothing else. Of course I am very happy here at Wigan, but let’s get the next 11 matches out of the way before we talk about the other stuff.
“I am enjoying playing 90 minutes every week, staying in the starting XI, and as long as that continues I will be happy.”
27 March 2013 at 5:46 pm #106434Same back 3 as the Newcastle game. TBH I would play the same side.

The only worry is Mcmanaman is carrying a knock.
The problem with that is I cant see Martinez keeping Maloney and Kone as they are and then putting someone on the right side.
I think Di Santo may get a start in the middle with Kone on the right of the three forwards
27 March 2013 at 7:43 pm #106448McArthur went off just before half-time on Tuesday. I hope he’s fit for Saturday.
Otherwise, Martinez has a squad to choose from. If McManaman and McArthur are out, he’s still got Di Santo, Espinoza and Stam to call on.
Tiredness may be a problem; Al Habsi has been to Australia and Di Santo, Beausejour and Henriquez have been to South America.
Hopefully, Wigan will be able to carry on where they left off against Newcastle.

They’ll have flown first class and probably had beds to sleep on as opposed to flying economy and not being able to get comfy because you’ve either got some little kid kicking your seat or a fat bitch who sticks her bare feet at the side of your seat for 24 hours. Not to mention the Chinese family at the side of you who are up and down to the toilet every 5 minutes and have that much shite on their tables/seats that it takes them 3 hours to get up and bang into you as one of them brushes past(some of the experiences I’ve had when flying to Oz)

28 March 2013 at 4:11 am #106502Most group games in the Europa Cup are not a great attraction for players or fans either. What player will sign up for three years because Wigan – or Swansea – have just qualified for one season in Europe?
And you need massive resources to succeed in the League and Europe too.
Nobody will sign just because of that, but it’s an incentive to sign for anyone deliberating between us and, say, West Brom or Norwich.
We then become a European stepping-stone as opposed to merely a UK one.
Agree with the bit about resources though.
