My son gave me the 05/06 season review for Xmas. Just watched it, and was reminded what a brilliant pairing Camara and Roberts were. Easily the best strike pair in our history. I know some would say Ellington/Roberts and its a shame they never played together in the Prem, but these two did it in the Prem. A great blend of mobility, skill, goal threat, pace, power. Shame we’ve never come close to that pairing ever since.
The only way we could have come close would have been if anyone had the intelligence to play off Heskey properly…only Camara ever managed it for 10-15 games in 06/07.
Camara was dodgy in the head, but when his mind was on it, must be the best forward ever to play for us. I was just reminded of some of the goals he scored for us that year – unbelieveable.
Anyone wants cheering up – watch that DVD – brought a smile to my face. And anyone on here who’s forgotten what Jewell did for us, go back and watch it again!

28 December 2009 at 12:17 am #16110what about the pairing of g-force,if they would have got a full season together who knows how many they would have scored
28 December 2009 at 3:09 pm #16128Sorry to p1ss on your bonfire, but the 05/06 dvd is £1 in the club shop. I suppose it’s the thought that counts.

From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!28 December 2009 at 3:30 pm #16135What’s the use of a penthouse in Florida? You can’t watch the Latics easily from there!!!
28 December 2009 at 6:27 pm #16145Dont think anyone can forget what Jewell did for us, but it’s what he Wasn’t doing when he left. Roberts and Ellington may have been the best but like you said but, these two did it in the prem. I honestly think Rodellaga has what it takes to be part of a good partnership but Martinez wont let him have one, saying that he hardly lets him play up front. I would take roberts back now, and play him and Rodders up front!
28 December 2009 at 7:38 pm #16159Duke – you’re right – I am aware that you can pick the said DVD up for a pittance, but he is pre pocket money age! And I definitely got more than £1 of value from watching all those wins again! And Roberts/Camara were great!
As for Jewell, I agree he’d lost his way by 06/07. Kept us up and was honest enough to leave us at the right time. Good on him.
