Can anyone tell me why we played Cambridge away in the first season at the JJB but played the game at home and used the away team dressing room, and away kit?
Think we won the game but cannot think why we played away at home….
It was F.A. Cup their gound was not suitable so they played it at JJB and they were the home team.
Think barlow scored in a victory for latics.
Correct – Cambridge’s ground wasn’t up to standard (remember it was Cambridge City, a non-league team, not Cambridge United). It’s not got any better over the years:

Everything else – kit, programme etc – was as away team, but we insisted on having home (better) dressing room.
Quiz trivia – that win meant that Latics were the first away team to win a competitive football match at the JJB.
