68% possession
70% in the 2nd half
85% pass completion
And that proves as clear as day that
iPad stats don’t win you games.
Again we struggled against a bottom of the league more physical side and at times it was boys against men.
On one hand I feel sorry for Maloney because, had Danson backed Maloney and allowed to bring in 3-4 experienced players I’m sure we’d be able to match teams when they started to get ugly.
But like the vast majority of managers you just have to crack on because the owner hasn’t spent or hasn’t got it. The simple fact is don’t blame your tools so Maloney has to make it work regardless there’s no if buts when’s weres or why’s.
I’m not going to all tactical and which players are better than others that’s all been covered but one thing I can’t stand is the obsession with resting players for the next game therefore never allowing the players to get into a rhythm a settled side.
Can players only play 4 games a month ??
But seriously, my biggest concern rather than the immediate onfield issues is, were the fook are we heading ?. I always thought this season was a building season then 2025-2026 push for promotion there’s no chance of that were a country mile off been anywhere near ready for next season infact we’ve gone backwards.
So if that’s the case and it’s 12 months player flip for the foreseeable future then we need a young brash harsh speaking manager and ex player who can get into these players heads and risk take.
When you think he might be getting it to click you get served up that and that’s the whopping problem
Consistency
He doesn’t know how to play 2 games back to back purely because he mauls and fooks around because the computer says yes
Right now were all huff and puff with our game totally about holding the ball and making teams come out
But in L1 the lower sides don’t and today’s is exactly what you get. As I’ve previously said numerous times I wish Maloney could turn it round but the truth of the matter is, he can’t and he’s simply not good enough F.A.C.T.
In our last 6 league games we have failed to score in 5 of them. Now skeggy if you wanna try and paint a turd feel free.
If we maintain that kind of form we will 100% be in a relegation fight. Goals wins you games and we never look threatening. You might get the odd blip but more often than not we are truly awful.
Last year we had a few players who could turn it on against the top half clubs but this season we don’t and if we stick true to form were we struggle against the lower sides then who do we beat to stay up ??
Last 6 league games 7 points (I notice you go 6 games to conveniently forget the Bristol Rovers game). Carry on with that ratio of points and we end up with 53.67 points, F.A.C.T. again not an opinion. That will not get us relegated and by some distance. And before you say it, no I don’t think that would be a successful season and yes I expect us to do better

OK, we’ve lost 1 in 8; but how many of those games were memorable ?
They weren’t wins; they were games that we would be expected to take all three points but ground ot a draw against inferior opposition. Let’s not lose the game football will not attract the crowds or potential new players.
Maloney might as well go out guns a blazing, rather than the fans falling asleep by half time.
I can remember when games were exciting and the fans went home exhausted and emotionally drained from the experience; especially the Paul Jewell era. If this was a marriage you would have binned your missus off by now
Such an entitled and arrogant opinion Lostock that we are expected to take all 3 points away at Lincoln and Stockport. In fact it’s arrogant and entitled to expect 3 points in any game
OK, you continue to support a bunch of losers and happy clap your way to league 2. That’s a bit like playing the fiddle whilst Rome burns.
Why don’t you admiht that whilst our players are good enough, our Manager’s tactics are not; or are you a brown noser ?
We lost against Birmingham because we played the last 27minutes (15 normal 12 added) with 10 men because we used all our subs up by the 70th min and Birmingham punished us, does he not learn ??.
We played the last 30 minutes today with no subs left. We only needed one player to take a knock and that game goes from a poor result to a disaster leaving us no chance what so ever of getting back in it.
That shows 2 things to me about Maloney
Nativity & Stupidity
It’s in the last 3rd of any game when players fatigue, pull up, cramp. There’s no way as a manager you should use all your 5 subs with a third of the game to go that’s unless your hand is forced. Bring the last one on ‘last throw of the dice” with a few minutes to go or if the games gone forget it.
Then we had Stones and Taylor up front for 45minutes. It was clear within 5 minutes the pair had never even talked about playing upsides of each other nevermind trained as that’s not the Maloney way. Infact, at times they were both going for the same ball so why do it ??.
I’d have straight swapped Stones for Taylor then it’s keeping your shape (if their was one) flood the middle and aim for him not have him chasing ghosts.
Again this just highlights to me Maloney is clutching at straws

I’ll tell you what Skeggy boy; arrogance is a quality in football that wins you games, leagues and cups !!!
Shock horror, but there are lots of examples out there to back up my statement. Just open your eyes.
Anybody who thinks things are alright is absolutely deluded. Or maybe they’re a club plant? It’s been known for the club to have ‘influencers’ on forums.
Football is supposed to be entertainment. Something for the working man, as it was, to go to for enjoyment at the end of a hard working week. A release, something to take your mind off the daily grind.
What we have at Latics, is an absolute farce. An owner who doesn’t seem interested, a manager who is nowhere near a manager. And a team of never will he’s…we haven’t got any hasbeens, just a load of young players who are NOT good enough.
This unbeaten in how many games…oh please! Its been dire. Nil nils against teams that Paul Cook’s Latics would have smashed 4 or 5 goals in against. And easy. Yet we hardly had a shot. Very very poor.
But today, that’s alarm bells ringing. A Cambridge team who had lost their last 6 games. Beat us 2 nil. Wow…thats really bad. I think we’ve sank to new lows today. If Maloney has anything about him, he would walk. Buy he won’t.
The club…management and coaching staff needs a COMPLETE overhaul. Rioch should go too. He’s scouted these players…absolutely shocking. The only player we’ve brought in who has potential to be a good signing, is Aimson. The squad is still awfully short and threadbare. Lacking in several places. That’s so worrying.
We are in serious danger with a manager who is poor. He’s same as he was at Hibernian. Trying to paint the Mona Lisa with crayons. Any manager or coach worth their salt works with the players they have. Don’t try to do what you’re not good at, play to your strengths.
I was never entertained last season either, I was bored to tears by the sideways and backwards shite. Not renewing this season, it’s the best choice I could have made. The club is dying…I think we will sink into the relegation quagmire if we don’t make a drastic change here.
I’d love us to get a nasty shithouse type manager in. Someone who won’t mess about and will call a spade a spade. Who? Big Mick?
I’d have him over this clown. Any day. Failing him…Big Duncan would come, I reckon. No fuss, no bull, just sort it out.
Can’t drag on, make the change now. A total change as well. No in-house crap. A fresh canvas…a new artist.
