They’re dirty and they’re smelly
They come from Scholes and Whelley
They haven’t got a telly
The Warriors family
and
We won it at Wem-ber-ley,
We won it in Gay Parie,
In 77 and 84 it was Rome
We’ve won it 5 times
We’ve won it 5 times
In Istanbul
We won it 5 times

There was an other verse made up which went on about ‘ In Ancient Greece….we’ll win it six times’ as well, but they didn’t, so it disappeared fast!
My mate had a spare for Anfield against Olympiakos, back in 2005. (The Gerrard “you beauty!” goal match). Have to be honest and say it was probably the most electric atmosphere I have ever witnessed. 40,000 people singing “Fields Of Anfield Road” to the tune of Fields Of Athenry did actually sound pretty good, I have to say. I heard old timers say it matched the St Ettienne atmosphere from 1977.
I always thought the rugby song went “They’re SCRUFFY and they’re smelly”…?
Have you noticed that song that Swansea fans sing? Heard it a lot on highlights and it sounds very Welsh and very…well, choiral.
Just print off a copy of this thread using a colour printer, punch two holes in and slot it into a ring binder.
Put the following title onto a white sticky back label ” Sing up you c’hants” and bang it on the front of the binder. B)
Run a few thousand copies off and stand outside the springy stand a couple of hours before the Liverpool game. I’m sure at about £2.87 a go you should get a few shifted. Autograph um and up the price to £2.94.and….Voilla, job sorted. goodpost
Last question, the tune to which my current favourite is sung “Is there a fire drill” which is the same time as the “Paulo di Canio” chant sung by West Ham, and countless others, is from what? I’m sure it’s another opera thing, is it not?
