These eggchasers, they’re not really obsessed by Wigan’s number 1 team playing in one of the best leagues in a worldwide sport are they….or have I got that wrong, I thought they didn’t care about Wigan Athletic FC ;)
I have just returned from Tunisia and I was speaking to a local in the hotel and when I said I was from Wigan he replied ” Ahhh Wigan Athletic ! ” I then asked him if he had heard of Wigan Warriors and he replied ” You have 2 football teams ? ” I explained that one was rugby league and his final riposte was ” What is this rugby league you speak of ? ” ha ha ha ! Several Germans had also never heard of this rugby league game ! :)
I don’t believe it I have just seen an advert, on Granada, for the chubbies Second Biggest game of the season against Warrington. I thought they where skint? :o :o

Couple of years ago, twenty odd of us went to Oz for a wedding.
The first night we’re in Melbourne, we’re all booked into an Italian restaurant. A waiter asks one of the lads, who is a staunch rugby supporter where we’re all from, and he tells him we’re mostly from Wigan.
‘Yeah, I know Wigan. I’ve seen them on TV a few times.’ the waiter replies.
‘You into Rugby League then?’ my mate asks.
‘Nah mate, can’t stand it’ replies the waiter ‘I’m a Man U fan, but I sometimes watched Wigan Athletic when Filan and Skoko played there.’
Half the gathered party cheered, half just shook their heads.
(When we went to Queensland though, football didn’t exist in the eyes of the rednecks.)
