Following on from my support theme, I’m wondering if its down to the team to get the fans going or vice versa. Easy answer is its a bit of both, but what if neither perform.
Case in point Blackburn today. Decent enough away following but just not up for it, even before we went behind barely a chant. And as for the team performance, just awful. Perhaps marginally better with obertan and grigg.

Maybe if we had a more positive shape & line up, that would have sparked the fans into action. It’s difficult to cheer something that is predictably drab. It was like going to a strippers night, knowing that the girls were not going to get their kit off !!!
With us only scoring a goal every other game this season its been a bloody awful season for supporters and most feel completely despondent I’m sure. Don’t think I’ve witnessed a latics team with such a lack of invention and it’s bloody pitiful to watch. Not one player can beat a player, create a killer pass, shoot well. It’s awful to watch and um surprised more haven’t boycotted what must be the worst Latics team in around 20 years.
We got rid of:
Wildschut, who could get past two or three players in one go.
Gomez, love him or hate him, he was the mon that could deliver that killer pass.

I’d have kept Wildschut but money talks. Gomez was too good for this team nobody knows how to make runs?
Agree with bigroy, I’m struggling to stay upbeat about WJ’s style of footy. How can fans be upbeat about a match that they know we just won’t look like scoring in??January & I thought he was beginning to turn things around. Now he’s got his own players in we look absolutely devoid of idea.
There’s only two things that motivate footballers these days – money and ambition. Supporters noise counts for nowt.
If you think back to the great escapes from the PL it wasn’t the few hundred Wigan fans at the emirates in April 2012 that caused us to win – it was the mentality of the players who wanted to keep their big salaries and a fixture at the emirates the following season.
If this bunch are happy to be back on league 1 wages next season playing the likes of Fleetwood, Southend & Gillingham in front of about 6000 at the DW on a wet Wednesday, then they are going about it the right way.
If however, they like their current salary and enjoy playing at places like Newcastle, Villa & Leeds and then having these clubs coming to a much fuller DW, then they really need to start performing like they want to.
Fleetwood won’t be in our league way they are playing. Uwe Rosler has transformed that club overnight with crowds of 2000. What exactly is WJ trying to achieve? Spoke to academy coach at United who says he was good at United as by the time the players got to him they were technically good and had flair. He was good at getting them into shape and developing their tactical side in an u23 league. He looks completely out of his depth at this level. In the last 3 games I’ve watched I can’t remember us having a meaningful shot on target. At least when Grigg came on we spent a bit of time in their half. Looks a bloody daft decision now to get rid of Caldwell so quickly because he never served up the utter shite this fella has over the last 4 months.
I’m not one to call for the managers head but it really looks like we are going down with this mon in charge. The painful bit is that these players can get us out of it but what they are doing is not working and that is down to the man in charge

I believe we have a squad of players more than good enough for this division and we are needlessly getting relegated because of the managers ineptness no other reason.
In 17 home games we have only scored in 6 of them. Can’t wait for the final 6. Knew there was a bloody catch with those cheap season tickets!

They had 2 more attempts at goal than us, same number of shots on target, they had 3 more corners but we had more possession. I bet your mate has seen teams at Ewood this season have less than 12 shots at goal.
I’m not saying that we weren’t awful, but your mate has certainly got Jack Walkers glasses on.
