2 up at HT and losing 3-2. :(
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!9 May 2015 at 11:27 pm #142055If Preston or Bolton were 2 up at HT and losing 3-2, what would your reaction be?
9 May 2015 at 11:28 pm #142056I went (a few other Latics people there including our CEO and our number 1 statto, that I saw – saw a few Latics badges around).
Chorley dominated the first half, but seemed to come out in the second wanting to protect that lead rather than push on and put the game to bed. We all know what that means. Keeper went off injured, but a recognised keeper came on in his place, so that wasn’t a factor. Poor strategy from Flitcroft I’m afraid. Too cautious.
I nearly didn’t get in. Due to hold ups at Mere Oaks, and trying to find somewhere to park only got to the ground at 2:30, and as I approached the turnstiles they were saying it was full and no-one else could get in. We hung around a bit and after about 10 minutes they sent stewards up the street to stop others coming in, and let us in.
Only ever been locked out of one game before -couldn’t believe my second might have been Chorley! :woohoo:
9 May 2015 at 11:48 pm #142057Listened to some of it on the radio and they lost both goalscorers to injury by half time as well as the goali in the second half. Sounded like sods law.
9 May 2015 at 11:54 pm #142058No. Guiseley had two really good substitutions – one tactical just before half-time which really was game-changing.
Nothing to do with bad luck or Sods law. Chorley lost it.
9 May 2015 at 11:57 pm #142059Chorley death squad won’t be happy
10 May 2015 at 1:24 pm #142063To be honest I’m not sure that ground would have coped to visits from bigger clubs who now frequent the conference and also the big issue of whether to go full time or not.
the local OB would have had their hands full dealing with some of the unruly elements that would have showed up to that village like town of theirs had they reached the conference .10 May 2015 at 2:41 pm #142065Donkeys years ago we went to Chorley for a pre season game and got talking to Larry Lloyd in the bar. He told us to keep our eyes out on the local papers as he had a few bits of good news for Latics fans. Following week we signed Eamon O’Keefe and Archie Gemmill. Good old days when the players lived on the same planet as the supporters.
10 May 2015 at 5:12 pm #1420713418 is a great crowd for The Magpies. Anyone remember going there in the first season of the NPL in the NPL Cup and losing 5-4. Over 5000 on that night.@

What a journey!10 May 2015 at 8:09 pm #142081I consider Chorley to be local rivals as I do with Preston and Bolton. What’s Chorley got that they haven”t?
10 May 2015 at 8:29 pm #142082Mate of mine said that they had a goal ruled out near the end as the ref said the ball hadn’t crossed the line, my mate said it did?
10 May 2015 at 11:28 pm #142087I consider Chorley to be local rivals as I do with Preston and Bolton. What’s Chorley got that they haven”t?Theyve got no chance of playing in the same division asWigan in my life time. B)

Much as I would have loved it to have been given, he headed at an open goal onto the lower edge of the bar and it bounced out. I don’t think it went in. A tiny bit more skill and he would have got it down more and in.
