The semifinals are on 13 and 14 April, so the City game comes on the following Wednesday.
With City and Wigan both at Wembley, it may be a benefit to play Millwall on Saturday rather than United/Chelsea on Sunday. Millwall, however, did seem a very physical team in the quarter finals against Blackburn Rovers. There is also a possibility of extra time and penalties.
Perhaps City will have conceded the Championship by then – but still be ahead of Chelsea and Spurs. They might rest some players.
Wigan do have a respectable away record. Of the last 10 away games, they have won 6, drawn 2 and lost 2. Goals scored 20, conceded 10.
It’s a pity that these weren’t all Premier League games, but it does show that Wigan have acquired a real resilience.
But we do need to see that away form on display at home matches, starting on Sunday.
