Until May 2013 that was the greatest day of my life. Was there when we lost to Scarborough in 73 and to see the team climb the famous Wembley steps and lift the trophy this time was the best feeling ever.

You are both right in a manner of speaking. The year before we won it, it was called something else, like the football league trophy or something. On the match video, martin tyler describes us as the in-augeral(?? not sure of spelling) winners of the freight rover trophy.
Ah yes the video. Commentators Martin Tyler and Lou Macari had done their homework and knew everything about the team that was going to lift the trophy. However, there is a marked change when they realise that team is Wigan Athletic and start using the programme pen pictures for research. Lazy journalism? Surely not where Latics are concerned.
