11 September 2009 at 12:16 am #8495Let me tell you something in all seriousness…I used to love going to the rugby with the brother in law but now won’t go because of the vitriol some of you lot keep spewing out. This is one of the reasons why the rugby support is now down. I also know rugby lads who now won’t go to the football. People are now marginalised by this continuous crap and I hope you are happy.
11 September 2009 at 12:26 am #8496Let me tell you something as well .When Latics got into the premiership I bought my two kids (although they wont like being called kids as they are 28 and 30)a shirt each.Whilst waiting for the shirts I was looking at Rugby stuff in the JJB shop.A Latics fan was walking round singing “you can shove you’re Wigan Rugby up you’re arse” this was in front of a lot of families .At least I should be thankful he didn’t attack anyone

11 September 2009 at 12:38 am #8500We can all come up with examples of idiots..
I was stood in Hindley Labour Club and overheard 2 rugby lads ( both in their 60’s and good lads BTW ) saying they wished Whelan would drop dead. When challenged about this they said they were joking.
Now this didn’t stop me watching MY home town rugby team it was the continuous sniping at the Latics team and fans that did it for me.
I never missed a Wigan Cup Final between 1970 ( Cas ) and upto and including Murreyfield and it hurts not going but I ain’t anymore.
13 September 2009 at 12:20 pm #8635More importantly, look at the growth in our attendances over the years.Bloody fantastic, as it happens. No other club’s support has grown so much. What? From the 1400 or so we got in 1995? Brilliant.
Wigan v Cockney Cheats March 2009 – 14169
Wigan v Cockney Cheats Sep 2009 – 17142
Almost a 21% increase in just 6 months.
(But lets not mention the overall downturn, or the missing 3400 from the season before’s fixture (20525) as that tells a different story)13 September 2009 at 4:45 pm #8661More importantly, look at the growth in our attendances over the years.
