Are they the unluckiest club in the UK?

Doubts are being cast over the stadium company, who have until the close of play today to avoid going into administration. So, Coventry could yet again be looking for alternative grounds to play their home matches.

Earlier in the season they postponed because the pitch was unplayable. The Ground was used for the Rugby in the Commonwealth Games and ended up being very threadbare afterwards. At the time WASPS, who own the company that owns the ground, said they didn’t think they needed to replay the pitch as they thought it would be ready for Coventry City’s first home game.

We now know this was utter rubbish now, they knew then they were going to go into liquidation and so didn’t have the cash to spare. Had they been up front, who knows if something could have been sorted by now?

Anyway, the thrux of it is, the Blackburn game is at risk tomorrow and that would also mean we could see our game moved or called off again next week.

The statement reads: “We remain in constant dialogue with Arena Coventry Limited, Coventry City Council and the EFL regarding the current situation at the Arena. We are also keeping Blackburn Rovers up to date.

“We will continue to communicate with supporters as and when we’re able to do so regarding Tuesday’s game which, while we are exploring alternative backup venues to host the match, we hope we can still hold at the Coventry Building Society Arena.”

Rumours are circulating that Walsall will be a temporary fix if they can arrange terms, but why could Coventry council not step in take charge of the stadium whilst things are being sorted out?

        An update:
Following further conversations this morning with Arena Coventry Limited and Coventry City Council, Coventry City Football Club is increasingly positive that we will be able to hold Tuesday’s game against Blackburn Rovers at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

We hope we will be able to confirm this later today.

We remain in constant dialogue with the EFL and are also keeping Blackburn Rovers up to date.

We appreciate time is of the essence for supporters, both of Coventry City and of Blackburn Rovers, to make plans for tomorrow night, as it is for both Clubs. We thank fans for their patience and understanding.
