What does everyone think of our managers performance so far?

If I am being honest he really isn’t exciting me with his decisions on the pitch although we do seem to be improving.

I personally think he is being propped up by a very good Championship squad.

how many of this very good squad did he sign ?

I was going to mention you cant really criticise his recruitment but then I think of McCann, Mclean and Crainey and I think there is a little room for criticism.

Just don’t like his general style of play if I am being honest.

I think the way he has been setting up with his 2 wingers probably would benefit from having 2 strikers.

When he has the opportunity to set up the front three how it should be he has Maloney roaming about like a headless chicken rather than becoming that second striker on the left.

I am also yet to see the benefit of having three in midfield under Coyle except when we play Espinoza as the rest of the time they seem to alternate between who is going to go missing for 20 minute periods.

I think he needs a Diame type player who can run with the ball from CM. Hopefully Powell may do something like that once our strikers are fit.

Injuries and a busy programme have made it a difficult start for Coyle. I too think that the experience of the team has played an important part so far.

The defence seems to have settled down now. But we are still waiting to see how the forwards will perform.

I can’t really say what Coyle’s plans are for midfield. I just hope that he will eventually choose to play through it rather than over it. After all, it is the strongest part of our squad.

If the way we play has not been very exciting, then the games certainly have been. We’ve had crucial late and last minute goals against Doncaster, Middlesbrough, Ipswich, Maribor and Blackburn!

There has been a culture change with our football so far this season and there is no arguing that it has been a shock to all of us, we all need to adapt to that change, afterall this is a complete new squad of players.

I’m not sure if anyone realises but of the 11 starters and 7 substitutes on Sunday only two players Beausejour and Boyce were guaranteed a starting place last season under Martinez, Watson, Gomez and McArthur to a lesser extent, all spent long periods on the bench.

Most of us have expressed doubts about what we seen so far, and it is natural to do so, but in the last few games there have been signs of this NEW team coming together and in patches we have played some good stuff, one of the things I personally have noticed since the Ipswich game is we have not hoofed the ball up field and there has been a lot more emphasis on passing, it is still far from perfect but certainly evolving into something more pleasing on the eye, remember just like us, Coyle is learning more about this squad of players with every game.

One last thing to bare in mind this season we have gained 11 points from our first 5 home games, last season we saw just 18 points from 19 games and a lot of dire performances as well.

We should be doing much better at home this season.

Last season, we were very much one of the poor relations. Now we are able to match the spending of most clubs.

However, whilst I did enjoy the games last season, this season I am enjoying the wins.

The fact we are unbeaten at home and have come from behind on 4 occasions ( 2 won and 2 drawn ) is very heartening for me ! Carson still kicks it far too long for me at times but on the whole I have been buoyed by our performances and determination !

He’s doing ok for me so far. Yes i know that weoccassionally resort to hoofball tactics but we have to remember what league we are in & sometimes we have to mix our style of play. Against maribor we played some lovely passing football which IMO was at times more pleasing than the football under bobby. Again IMO we are in a nice pisition in the league & when we start to fully gel as a team will soon see us climbing the table. We have 2 games in hand at the moment & win those 2, & we’re in the playoff positions.
The only negatives for me have been the signings of crainey & mccann. Mcclean i think will come good.

Mid table in the Championship with 2 games in hand that will take us into the playoff mix.

Unbeaten in Europe and with a VERY good chance of qualifying.

Unbeaten at home despite trailing in a few games.

          SACK HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He’s doing an ok job at the moment. I have concerns over why he didn’t sign a striker in the window when we already had one out injured and the other lacking fitness but I’ve been happy with more of his work than I’ve been upset with so far.

Would be unfair to judge him until the new year though I feel.

I think he’s doing OK as well.

He needs to sort out the left back spot though as although Perch has done OK he can’t overlap.

The Jean Beau/McLean combination looked promising though against Blackburn.

That would seem to be the way to go.

          Today’s game at Blackpool continued an unfortunate trend;

          Blackpool 1-0 Wigan
          Watford 1-0 Wigan
          Man City 5-0 Wigan
          SV Zulte Waregem 0-0 Wigan
          Leicester 2-0 Wigan
          Bournemouth 1-0 Wigan
          Man Utd 2-0 Wigan

Thanks to last minute goals, our home record looks a little better.

To succeed this season, we desperately need a goal-scoring forward. Coyle has had eight weeks to find one, yet we still started at Blackpool without one.

Powell, willing though he is, can’t play the role. And without one, our wingers dribble without any purpose in mind.

I’m beginning to endure games rather than enjoy them. Nobody can accuse us of playing a passing game any more.

Cancel that last quote of mine.

          I think he’s looking like he really hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing !! :(

don’t forget the Bournemouth game…another “Wiganathleticnil” not an away goal scored since the first at Barnsley. Nothing better than an average mid-table side.
