          “Crapello”?
He lost 2 games as England manager, with a bunch of hugely over rated and self important tossers, if you think that makes him crap you need to have a word with yourself!

No. He had to go. It’s not about whether he was a good manager or not (not, in my opinion, but that’s irrelevant) or whether Terry should remain as captain (again my opinion is not).

But if Capello disagreed he should have been saying this in private to the FA. He had put whoever would take over the captain’s role in an untenable position. Knowing that the manager doesn’t want you, and would prefer (and maybe discuss things with) someone else in the squad.

That cannot be right for team discipline and harmony.

Of course it would have been resolved earlier if Terry had stood down from the captaincy (“pressures”, “mental strain” etc make a great temporary excuse). But we can’t expect England’s captain to act honourably can we?

Although the England captain is a prestigious job it’s not exactly time consuming is it you captain what 13 times a year and then do what toss a coin 13 times I shouldn’t imagine a professional footballer would care to much if he was ignored by the manager to find someone else the captain in the distant future

Whereas the England cricket captain is i know a different sport but there is far more pressure on that individual than his football counterpart

                    @ Garswood_Latic
You’ve been listening to too much Keys and Gray on Talk Shite.

Just because he had the balls to speak out in disagreement, the media saw this as a perfect excuse to hound him out. He had already told the FA he didn’t agree with the decision so why they are acting so surprised I’m not so sure.

Have you never disagreed with your boss? What did you do? Tell them to f**k off in private then keep it to yourself, or did you tell them to f**k off then go and tell anybody who would listen?

I agree that Capello was crap in the World Cup and I also cant stick JT(sic) but the media take the pi$$ in this country.
They will be clamouring to take Harry Redknapp from Spurs now, and then in 2-3 years when he has won jack all, because our players are all clueless overpaid tossers, they will vilify him and force him out just the same.

Just one more reason why I dont bother going anymore, rant over.

From what I remember of the world cup, I’d say the players were absolutely gash, there has always been a ridiculous air of expectancy, built up by the media, for a team that is distinctly average. To say capello is crap is just pathetic, as a manager at club level he has a record comparable with ferguson, the media just love to build things up only to be able to put the boot in when those false expectations aren’t met, they’ve done it for a long time in all sports.
I’d suggest that England’s problems lie with the players being too big for their boots, lacking in discipline and not being anywhere near as good as they think they are, ffks sake, Rooney’s even saying who should be the next manager, and his comments on the next manager has “got to be English” is no less racist than saying he has to be white, ignorant prick that he is!

Got to agree with all of that just look at the England cricket team being battered piller to post in the press the last few days

Yes he had to go but I’d disagree with your reasoning on a number of counts:
                        1) I hate racism & hate racists but John Terry is at present innocent until proven guilty. Just as Harry Redknapp was & a criminal charge hanging over his head for several years had no bearing in his ability to manage his club sides. John Terry has nothing to “act honourable” about. He has been charged with a criminal offence & he has pleaded not guilty to it – until such time as a jury agrees or disagrees with him then the FA should have left well alone. What they have done now (IMO) is cast an aspertion of guilt over John Terry before the trial. The fact I can’t stand John Terry (or at least the public image he gives off & in part the media portrayal of him) is by the by
                        2) The England manager should (IMO) be the sole decider of who he selects in his squad & who he selects as captain. If the FA have yet to ascertain whether John Terry is guilty of any misconduct then IMO I don’t think that a) then can “suspend” him from his duty as captain & b) interfere in the manager’s right to make his own decisions
                        3) I think that Capello made his feelings very clear to the FA last week & they ignored them to make their own decision. They took this decision knowing full well the risk they were running in undermining Capello’s authority as manager & the possible consequences. John Terry would have known Capello didn’t agree with it, the rest of the squad including the new captain would have known that Capello didn’t agree with it & the conditions this would have created in the England camp. The FA in effect forced Capello’s hand & I think he knew before making the comments to the Italian media that he was resigning because of this undermining

The FA were either naive in thinking that Capello would accept their decision after stressing his disagreement with it or knew exactly what they were doing when making the Terry decision.
So i don’t think he had to go for publicly coming out against his bosses but I think that he had to walk away himself after being so publicly undermined

                        #80968

Most boring England team of my lifetime under Capello.

Fair enough though statistically he was good results wise..

Let Redknapp get his cockney lads club together with the Lampard’s of this world actually looking interested in an attacking formation!!!

Or if Redknapp turns it down get Robbie Williams in… Let him entertain you.
