12 September 2010 at 2:24 am #46094Just a pity we have lost 2,500 fans from last seasons average. Agree about the atmosphere… Blue White Army!
12 September 2010 at 5:06 pm #46111Not everyone agrees; I used to not mind Sunderland, but they’ve turned into Geordies up their own rears, I hope they go down.
“The atmosphere was tremendous from the Sunderland fans, who were behind the side from start til finish (yeah, it’s the norm). A few passing Wigan Athletic supporters at the end of the game commented that it was the loudest Away following that they’d experienced which was a fantastic complement. Wigan on the other hand were pretty lifeless and relied on a South American-like drum to help create any sort of noise. I’d absolutely hate it if Sunderland had to resort to such a ‘cringeworthy’ off the field crowd encouragement crutch.”
12 September 2010 at 7:04 pm #46114I’m full of a cold today so a bit slow.
What’s just hit me is the irony of the statement he makes: “relied on a South American-like drum to help create any sort of noise.”
Because everyone knows that those Brazilians and Argentines are as silent as church mice and bring no atmosphere to matches.
Right, back to my Lemsip. :(

Maybe I was at the worng game on Saturday, but Sunderland went quiet for most of the first half once Catermole went off, only started singing when they were winning and shut up at the end when we scored. I thought thje home fans atmosphere was amazing, until they scored !
13 September 2010 at 3:25 pm #46196I have to agree, the atmosphere along with the match was much improved on Saturday.
