Because we are not being openly linked with anybody, and yet our players are being linked with moves, despite it all going quiet on the leaving front, as well.
I can see us losing either one, or two crucial players before the season starts, putting us on a backfoot, and short of replacements.
FACT- we need a right-back. We might end up needing a LEFT-BACK, too.
We could still do with another striker, and one or two other signings.
This ALCARAZ thing is still up in the air. I’ve not really heard the club say one way or the other what is happening with him. Have you?
It seems like they are trying to rush Bramble back to fitness, because we could find ourselves short in defence. A nightmare scenario would be to lose ALL THREE of N’Zogbia, Rodallega, and Figueroa on the seasons eve, without us bringing in replacements for them.
I also don’t like hearing Roberto saying that “Young players will have to step up”. What, like Cywka and Kupisz, who have left us? No, I don’t like it at all.
I’m not going to start slating Roberto or the club, but I think they need to pull their fingers out a bit.
And then he hints that a player, or players COULD leave. I’m not liking it. At all.
Bit surprised we’ve not been in for that Nathaniel Clyne, from Palace.
I honestly believe that Whelan has told him that until we sell somebody, there’s no more money. It’s going to happen……isn’t it?
I follow all the transfers (confirmed, not rumours) as I run a fantasy football league and have to stay on top of them. Believe me, very few deals have been done anywhere.
You can’t seriously expect the club to respond to every bit of tittle-tattle that emerges in the press, on Tv or in Donnolly’s spam thread.
And if the club does have genuine irons in the fire, which I am sure they have, why possibly queer that pitch by going public on them? Silence can mean calm, sensible negotiations – why would you assume that it is the sign of an imminent fire sale?

Griff, I really hope I’m wrong, as I’d like to see what we are like with one or two additions, such as Alcaraz, and Boselli, on top of our side from last season. I’ll be cockahoop if we keep the players, such as N’Zogbia, who are linked with moves.
It could be a strange season, with big name players of other clubs (England players especially) having a bit of a World Cup ‘hangover’. Plus, Hodgson’s left Fulham, so they may falter. The middle third of the league table could be quite open this season, so with a bit of luck and the right application, we could do alright.
I also think we can get the season off with a win against Blackpool, and then look to take something off Chelsea as well. (Seriously. They might start slowly, players tired from World Cup, etc) 4 points from those first two games, would be great.
I’m really excited about this season. I actually renewed at start of June.

Not really. When it comes to football….I know the score. Make no mistake about that. ;)
