This squad is bottom 6 at best. Caldwell doing his best but come on….how many of the alleged 16 who can leave in summer would you want? Cant be arsed naming them…. I’m sure we all realise who they are…..but we’re f###### altogether if the investment next season is as expected. That today was exactly where we are at present. The squad is rice paper. Survival is paramount and I still believe April’s fixtures will see us stumble over the safety line ….but next season is a different matter. Season tickets up next……who the f### will be persuaded to part with their dosh whilst Danson gives no indication of any ambition whatsoever ?..If the budget is further reduced then 12 months from now our league position will be repeated. Our away form is dreadful…..ship goals 6,4,3…etc. Mansfield, Orient, Port Vale,Northampton, Rotherham, Wimbledon are all potentially winnable……but only the home games fill me with hope…….
29 March 2026 at 9:37 am #207118That second goal,
Everyone’s calling Aimson, had Aimson not tried to play the ball they would have tapped home anyway.
But how did it get there?
First a poor header by Aimson to Kerr. Kerr then decides to back off and hope Chapman who’s been pushed right up field can get back with a 50 yard sprint.
Kerr then misses the chance to clear on the edge of the box, then he fails, sorry stops and gives up tracking the through ball that lead to the cross and O.G.
So although Aimsons half way line header and O.G. was bad Kerr had 3 relatively easy opportunities to make a simple tackle and failed.
Chapman then pays the price when really for me Kerr absolutely stunk the place out, he had about the worse game I’ve seen in a Latics shirt.
At some point Caldwell needed to shut shop but he didn’t. One of the worse defensive displays I’ve seen this season against a side who didn’t have to come out 2nd gear to score 3.
29 March 2026 at 8:58 pm #207120Ive been quite disappointed by Tickle recently as well. I get the feeling his heart isnt in it anymore. Not even diving and at times his positioning is shocking. I know part of it will be down to having the chuckle brothers in front of him.
Its going to be touch and go whether we stat up or not and if we have any more capitualtions at home, we are in big trouble. We only have ourselves to blame, been shite all season and made the managerial change far too late. Owners have taken a gamble that Caldwell will keep u up but its very much up in the air. Pep Guardiola wouldnt have done any better with this shambles of a squad.
Season tickets? Word is prices are going up. Well, good luck with that one.
30 March 2026 at 8:27 am #207126I don’t think prices going up is a shock, that’s the norm for Britain right now.
Tickle has been out of sorts but I don’t think he’s on his own. I kinda thought Chapman was made the scapegoat for Aimson and Kerr having mares.
So I take it Fox & Hunt are knackered ? and Carragher isn’t ready to start ?.
Looking through the fixtures 5 are against potential relegation sides and the other 2 Wimbledon and Mansfield aren’t safe as it stands.
I think we need to pray that, when we lose some others do. Exeter look in trouble.
I personally feel if we can do Leyton Orient and Blackpool win or draw against Exeter Good Friday we might be ok simply because Exeter have to play Plymouth Stockport & Bradford.
Whichever way we look at it we need at least 2 wins and a draw and hope others screw up
2 April 2026 at 10:37 pm #207137Good job Tickle’s “heart wasn’t in it” again tonight!!
Some people don’t half talk some drivel on here. 5 clean sheets in 6 home games since Caldwell took over

Saved us tonight, or could’ve been 3 nil.
Theyre shite. We are where we are for a reason.
Caldwell a brave man leaving Exeter to come to this shambles.

He dove tonight. Didn’t dive at Reading. Simple as that.
3 April 2026 at 7:26 am #207143Good defensive display and brilliant from Tickle (who was man of the match imo) last night against a team that had a little bit more quality on the ball and bat for that defence could easily have gone down to a defeat.
Our forward play wasn’t the best last night and the Orient back line easily dealt with those long hoofed balls up to Taylor in a fairly poor 2nd half display.
Gary Caldwell has upped the intensity yes but this leads to misplaced passes and lots of yellow and potentially red cards.
Monday is a must win game but away form is dreadful , can only hope.
3 April 2026 at 8:34 am #207144A tale of 2 Half’s, first half especially the first 15 we were all over them and should at least been 1 up.
We seem to drop back in and rely with the 1 up top as per usual. Don’t get me wrong when it works it works but when it fails there’s no one else even from midfield to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and that for me is we’re the problem lies
MIDFIELD
Far far to defensive Wright got shut up and when Orient realised everything comes from the sides they doubled up and we resorted back to long punts from Tickle.
Yes he made some fantastic saves ball he needs to practise more on his ball distribution.
A ball went back to him, under no pressure he just launched it first time when there was no need. He rarely found anyone when he kicked or he hit touch.
If he’s to move to a bigger and better club then that will be his Achilles heel and better clubs will look at that just as much as his saves.
