Today is Dannys funeral, he will be driven past the DW on his way to his final resting place. Those of a certain age cannot fail to remember Danny from his massive involvement with the club on a voluntary basis (im sure he won fan of the year a few times as well) and was a very popular face in our crowds as they were back then.
RIP Danny.
15 December 2017 at 1:00 pm #164262I remember Danny well beltin lad. RIP marrer.
15 December 2017 at 2:32 pm #164263Gutted to hear he has died. When did he pass away and how old, etc?
Top fan. An absolute stalwart of a supporter, indeed he was a perennial contender for supporter of the year, and won it several times.
Wigan Athletic has died a little, with Danny’s passing. RIP.
15 December 2017 at 3:12 pm #164264Without going in to detail out of respect, Danny had been ill for a while. Dannys sister has been overwhelmed and humbled to see and hear tributes to him, and didn’t realise how popular and known to Wigan fans he was, this is bringing her some comfort that he had so many ‘tics friends.
15 December 2017 at 3:23 pm #164265Remember meeting him one day I think it was at Brentford and I always thought I was Latics mad but Dannys enthusiasm and loyalty to the club was unbelievable. You couldn’t help but like the lad. You simply can’t replace fans like Danny.
15 December 2017 at 5:37 pm #164267Danny is the family friend I referred to on saturday. Great bloke and massive Tics mon
15 December 2017 at 8:58 pm #164277Small world, went to a few away trips with Danny with my dad in the 80’s. Nice chap.
16 December 2017 at 12:51 am #164283Sorry to hear the sad news, I didn’t know him personally, but heard his name mentioned around the club on many occasions.
I not fully sure, but I think I used to talk to him in the old days when I went in the club shop to pay in my Cashtrail/Saturday Yankee money, he was always in there talking to Bernard Eccles.
Didn’t he once get sponsored to have a bath in a tub load of beans?
Condolences to all his friends and family, he will be remembered fondly by everyone connected with the Latics. RIP.17 December 2017 at 10:08 pm #164354Pretty certain I knew Danny a long time ago , was he 60 or about to turn 60 and a former St Edwards/Thomas More lad ?
18 December 2017 at 11:54 am #164377Yeh that’s Danny. Most people will have known him but maybe not by name, he was a small fella, brown hair, and of course without being disrespectful, and how some people would recognise him above other features was the 2 moles on his chin
18 December 2017 at 4:45 pm #164381It was very sad news to hear of Danny passing away, he was part of the Wigan Athletic Supporters Club setup from back in the Springfield Park days, all the way up to about 4 seasons ago.
He had to give up volunteering back then as his health was suffering, but he always pooped in the Supporters Club Bar whenever he could, though it has been a lot less lately.
He was Wigan through and through and will be missed by many who knew or knew of him, anyone that travelled to games will have bumped into him at some point, plus anyone who is a member of the Supporters Club would have known him much better.
A fine gentleman, RIP Danny
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
18 December 2017 at 6:52 pm #164382Just liked to add my condolences to his friends & family – he was never someone that I got to know personally but I knew who he was & was probably one of the first recognisable figures I saw at matches when I started attending in the late 80’s & was clearly Latics to his core.
JayT – you might wanna do a spell/word check on your second paragraph!!
