If he’d said ‘Roberto Martinez’s future at Wigan is secure, he’s done a great job for the club’, then I couldn’t see him getting shut. But he didn’t, and his future is secure, as with all managers for some reason, they just move on to the next project regardless. If he did go he’d walk into another job, it just hasn’t worked for him this season, he isn’t fulfilling his remit of keeping the club in the prem on a shoestring budget, which is a big ask for anyone, but plenty managers have bit the dust recently for alot less than the consistently poor results and lack of goals or even excitement that bobbys team have produced.
Time will tell, but my gut feeling is he will go gracefully and soon, and let’s all be honest, anyone that knows a bit about football could have put a side out today from the players available and couldn’t have done much worse than Bobby did. You just have to wonder what he is trying to do, and why he doesn’t seem to realise it isn’t working, and if he does realise, then why doesn’t he seem to be doing anything about it? That’s what a manager is for, and in any other profession, he’d have been unceremoniously sacked long ago.
