I actually believe that Jordi Gomez’s days are numbered at WAFC ! The amount of abuse he received from the East Stand last night reached fever pitch and the long ‘Stink eye stare’ he gave to the lad who shouted at the top of his voice ” Wake up Gomez ” told me that the lad had had enough. His head dropped and his lethargy and apparent disinterest was even more evident after that ! To be fair Gomez was extremely poor last night, so poor that even Griff would find it very difficult to fight his corner for him, but to get the sort of abuse he received last night, I actually felt a little sorry for him ! Then there was the massive cheer when his inevitable substitution came ! Don’t be surprised if he puts in a transfer request after that !
25 October 2013 at 2:29 pm #122668He’s had the same level of stick for three years and he’s still here.
Must have pretty thick skin. Most of it is undeserved and sections cannot wait to get on his back but to be honest doesn’t do himself any favours with his lethargy at times.
Gomez haters behind me “Gomez show us some magic”
His mate “Yeh make yourself disappear”Did make me chuckle, better than there usual “efff off Gomez”
25 October 2013 at 2:30 pm #122669i can remember when gomez and watson couldn’t even get in the team at wigan
just goes to show how we have gone backwards and not progressed
gomez last night even before the booing didn’t look interested
time to get rid
its espinoza i feel sorry for way better than gomez and should be in the team25 October 2013 at 2:49 pm #122672It’s a strange characteristic of so-called fans that they go to matches to abuse their own players.

25 October 2013 at 3:47 pm #122675He was played out of position last night and have seen far worse performances from other players this season, yet he is the continual scapegoat. Good result last night but the booing he received was disgraceful.

Good result last night but the booing he received was disgraceful.here here, those who boo players want fisting. Gomez always seems to be the target even though Holt was not much better. And as for Watson’s freekicks and corners ??? but booing ? be ashamed, , we were playing a Champions league team in the EUROPA CUP, get real.
25 October 2013 at 5:39 pm #122680and the long ‘Stink eye stare’ he gave to the lad who shouted at the top of his voice ” Wake up Gomez ” !That Pillock was sat a few rows in front of me in ES4, I was going to tell him to shut his gob or I’ll shut it for him but then I thought I’m 47 and he looks about 23 so I let him off.
25 October 2013 at 6:03 pm #122681i can remember when gomez and watson couldn’t even get in the team at wiganWe’ve lost our two best midfield players – McCarthy (permanently) and Maloney (temporarily). That’s left space for Gomez and Watson.
Gomez replaced Di Santo at Everton in the cup tie last season. I think that he more or less kept Di Santo out of the first team after that.
We won the FA Cup with Gomez, McManaman and Watson. It was an interesting time.
25 October 2013 at 9:27 pm #122697He was played out of position last night and have seen far worse performances from other players this season, yet he is the continual scapegoat. Good result last night but the booing he received was disgraceful. If people look back to the games where Coyle played Maloney out wide on the right in the first few games he also looked lost in that position.
Last night Gomez was up against a top class full back and a quality midfield that closed him down as soon as he received the ball, I must add most of the balls he received were from Watson who in my opinion spends most of his time passing the ball square to players who are marked and has no vision whatsoever, but Watson won us the FA cup so that’s ok, people don’t remember that some superb performances from Gomez in previous games are what gave Watson his chance to score an FA cup winner.
25 October 2013 at 10:05 pm #122704People forget his hat trick against Reading and the brilliant side footer at Goodison.
However he is so one paced at times and hardly seems to break sweat plus his lack of a tackle and the occasional poor pass winds people up.
A lot of our crowd still expect everyone to charge round at 100 mph kicking the opposition up in the air.
I do feel sorry for him at times.I did last night cos he was out of position.Coyle seems to like playing them out of position.
Watson needs dead ball practice some of his efforts are awful and Holt needs a fork lift to get off the ground to be honest. They deserve as much stick as Senor Gomez at times.
Anyway fingers crossed we can actually score on Sunday and next Wednesday will be the real benchmark of where we are at present !!!
Onwards and upwards !! :)
25 October 2013 at 10:45 pm #122707I think one problem is that some of the morons we have supporting us seem to think every midfielder has to be a Lee Cattermole or Michael Brown, and “get stuck in”, rather than create, which is his forte.
And before anyone thinks otherwise I thought he had a poor time last night, but it happens. He’s no worse (or better) than a lot in the squad. If he’d still been on maybe we’d have been spared Watson’s woeful crossing, corners and free kicks.
25 October 2013 at 11:23 pm #122708I actually believe that Jordi Gomez’s days are numbered at WAFC ! Then there was the massive cheer when his inevitable substitution came ! Don’t be surprised if he puts in a transfer request after that !Thought he was far worse on Saturday than he was last night actually, though he was poor again last night. That said, he wasn’t on his own in being poor either last night or on Saturday. Grant Holt “controlled” a ball 20 yards into touch last night and got a round of applause.
If it came down to a straight choice between Gomez and 50% of the East Stand leaving the club, I’d stick with Gomez.
Too easy to single out Gomez. It’s usually done by people who probably couldn’t kick a ball straight if their life depended on it and have no idea about football.
Most of them don’t like him because he shits out of tackles and doesn’t panic and kick it as far and as hard as he can every time he sees it. Perhaps they would prefer a team of Craineys.
25 October 2013 at 11:26 pm #122709I do feel sorry for him at times.I did last night cos he was out of position.Coyle seems to like playing them out of position. An exclusively left-footed, possession-keeping, short, accurate passing midfielder playing on the right of a – nominally – forward three. Aye, I’d say he was out of position.
