Away doldrums again.Takes us to go 2 down before we start playing .4 consecutive league draws not good enough .As stated before better pts wise to win 2 lose 2 albeit losing not good for confidence..Again all the possession but created bollock all.Junior should have been on earlier can’t figure Caldwell out, looked far better with him on.Why oh why can’t we take the game to the opposition instead of the tedious possession at all cost crap served up for 80 mins ???
The last ten playing against ten men papered over what was generally a bloody woeful first 80 where we barely mustered a shot on goal. Pass pass pass with no threat whatsoever when we approached the area time and time again. It’s tedious and obviously won’t get us success in this division. Why Junior is on the bench I have no idea and one positive was the threat Holt caused when he came on. Every game is the same. What exactly is Caldwell learning week in week out?
Were clinging on to the leading packs coat tails but they’ll bet throwing the life buoy out to us unless our manger starts to speed up play and be more aggressive .For christ’s sake take the game to them and stop this crap were being served up again. 1 positive was Holt’s impact when on.Not sure if he has 90 mins in him but would be a great off the bench game changer to have in our locker.
First 30mins were not too bad, we broke quickly enough on occasions. Some of our approach play was good. Problem was no outlet up front again! Can’t recall their keeper making a save in the first half. Got worse in the second half, the team really didn’t know what to do up front. Going Two up front made a slight difference, them going to ten men made a big difference.
Our biggest problem is Caldwell, his tactics and formations are too cautious and we won’t reach the play offs with him let alone top two!
But after he was appointed lots were saying it was great to get our club back.Boring tippy tappy over cautious and a bore in reality. Throwing points away week after week to bore us silly. The style is a carbon copy of that of Bobbys. We saw some good stuff from Bob when we were two nil down or during the run in of the season. Hopefully things may become more positive in March when we are chasing the bunch and eight points behind. Or could we be frontrunners when Grigg and DLA Davies are back depending if Mr Cautious plays them.
Interesting to see the stats from when we went two down or from the sending off. However it is pleasing again to see Gary changing mid game when plan A goes tits up yet again. Like midweek, at Port Vale, Chesterfield etc. Also pleasing to see the side battle back but from what we are seeing the side could be good enough to be positive and attack from the off.
Bury 6 shots 3 on target  Tics 18 shots 5 on target (how many blocked shot I lost count
Bury 4 corners Wigan 11
poss 42% Bury 58 % Wigan
in context work to be done defending set pieces and creating stuff from set pieces
Come on 35 even you can’t defend that first 80 mins today…. Most of them shots the BBC claim we had came in the last ten minutes, we could have walked away with all three points in the end such was our pressure, but it would have been undeserved.
Great point in the end, but Caldwell needs to take stock, and start being more attack minded. We could then walk this league, as Bury and others In this league are a very average team!
Fair enough but if we are playing that crap and only two points off play offs without a full strength defence for numerous weeks multiple injuries which result in the fifth choice striker starting up front on his own then things can only get better
That all depends on the manager, in my opinion. But I hope you’re right.
We were poor on set pieces today for sure, their second corner nearly resulted in a second goal. Barnett is not a dominating defender.
On the plus side, that lad from Middlesbrough (31) looks good. Think I’d play him in a more central position to be more involved as he is strong and fast.
