Off to charlton on loan maybe? Its in a few on line articles
Why not give him a run malky?27 December 2014 at 11:39 pm #137378Off to charlton on loan maybe? Its in a few on line articles
Why not give him a run malky?Well I hope the lad does go on loan, gets the experience in English football and comes back full of goals.
Did both managers expect him to just slot into place ? new country, a new style of football. Even some big money signings take time to adjust, you only have to look at 1/2 the Spurs squad.
But why the panic ?? we’ll soon have Grant Holt back to fire us into the play-off’s. Were going with all old steady eddies it’s the safer bet for MacKay while the younger players, the one’s we spent alot of money on are left out to dry.
How are these players expected to improve ? for me 2 shit managers
28 December 2014 at 2:03 am #137379I tell you what if he goes with the limited opportunities he’s had, it’s a complete joke.
We’ve not had a goal scorer like this at our club since Ellington/Roberts
28 December 2014 at 4:27 am #137380To compare him with Ellington (a man who managed to average almost a goal every two games for us) is ridiculous. Though I would agree he has limited opportunities on the chances he has had he has looked slow with a poor touch and to most watching has looked out of his depth. Rosler and Mackay also must have watched him day in day out and decided he isn’t the answer. Surely of he was setting the world alight he would be playing in front of Fortune!

The game has moved on a lot since Duke was with us so I agree you cannot compare the two in any way. Duke did score loads of goals just as Fortune and Holt did before they came to us. They played in a tandem front 2 and profitted from their strike partner. Had Nathan still been with us the following seasons his strike rate would have gone down as it showed when he left. His stock plummeted when he went and he was never the great player we saw again. The modern frontman is a different animal nowadays and we may not see the likes of Ellington and Roberts unless the game reverts back to a more British style of playing.
29 December 2014 at 11:46 am #137408Oh aye he’s slow with a poor touch alright!
He just hasn’t been given a chance to do what he’s good at and why we bought him.
The Fortune thing is a daft comparison as that’s how we’ve took to playing for a while now and it doesn’t produce goals. Holt will be back soon to replace Fortune I would imagine. Delort will be off, we just don’t play in a way that allows him in the team, which is a shame cos what we’ve watched for a while is rat shit football.

Have you checked Fortune’s goalscoring reconrd before he joined us?
Eg, 11 goals in 80 games for West Brom and at least 3 of these were against us.On a more general point, some forwards score wherever they go until they reach their level. Other forwards fit at a certain club or system.
We can’t afford a proven Championship striker such as Rhodes or McCormack and we can’t find one that fits into our system and scores goals yet. Delort was an expensive risk in terms of our budget, but none of us know the reason why he hasn’t been given a proper chance so far.
If he is to move on then maybe Mackay is looking for a replacement he believes can fit into his way of playing.Speculation and personally I’ll wait a few more weeks to make a judgement which way our team is heading on the pitch.

Agree with you there Tez. Simply not been given a chance to prove himself.
29 December 2014 at 3:27 pm #137421Exactly my point, spending millions without giving the lad a chance to me is madness
I will be the first to eat humble pie,but give him a chance with a run of games first!29 December 2014 at 4:12 pm #137424Same thing happened with Boselli! Perhaps DW has just got loads of spare cash that he doesn’t mind spunking on any old player!
29 December 2014 at 4:41 pm #137428I haven’t seen enough of him to judge really. It is a bit confusing why we seem to buy players but then don’t give them enough playing time to adjust / prove themselves?
29 December 2014 at 8:25 pm #137435I remember seeing a video compilation like that of Julius Agahowher. :woohoo:
Fully agree though, he should have been given 4 or 5 games on the bounce alongside Riera.
We may never know what they might have done, although if Malky sticks with this 3-5-2 formation, he might still get a crack. :cheer:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!31 December 2014 at 4:05 am #137495Off to charlton on loan maybe? Its in a few on line articles
Why not give him a run malky?Surely now wont be going anywhere with Holt’s injury.
31 December 2014 at 4:22 am #137496Rovers fan mate of mine suggested Leon Best on loan from them? If he is indeed available for loan would you like to see him given some playing time for us? Can’t be any worse than what we already have surely!
