1 because he his our manager and prob will be at the end of a season but he will have to take a touchline ban along the way and as our chairman as said rosler signed some bad players so we will need to get shut to freshen things up as the team is on the floor at the mo.

      How bad they’ve looked when?

If you’re bought as a hold up man and you play shite then that’s a different story to banging goals in against Real Madrid or 26 in a season and being asked to do it, when you’ve never done it.

It’s like asking a joiner to fix my car.

On a separate note, I watched Delort try to play on his own in his first game at Blackburn and he worked his absolute tripe off and all anyone could say around me was how good he was going to be with a partner or at least some support. At 1 nil up after 60 minutes we looked pretty decent. Then something happened when it went 1-1 and we have never recovered. He was tried up on his own for the next 2 games I think and got dropped never to be seen, similar to Riera.

Why folk think they’ve been given a fair crack at it is beyond me and they keep banging the goals in it he reserves playing together, while Fortune zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

      Bored of this now.

Riera has featured in 13 games this season and Delort in 8. I’ve seen nothing to suggest either may be a better option to Fortune and our two managers this season clearly feel the same.

Scoring against the Dog ‘n Duck / Morcambe Reserves at Christopher park may be well and good, but it’s meant as a nursery to develop young first and second year professionals, not for million pound strikers to show how good they are by banging ‘em in against teenagers.

Incidentally, when Riera scored 13 in La Liga last season, it was as part of a 4-2-3-1 formation – so it would appear he can play as a lone striker. Not sure what formation Delort is used to.

I hope one or both of them are given a chance and come good – but I doubt it.
So Johnny, why do the managers play them in those games? Surely it is pointless and if anything risky because they could get injured!
Exercise and to keep them match fit I presume.

I doubt them scoring against a team of kids will tell the manager much.

Some young kid got his chance for Bolton and pissed all over us and not just with the goal. When all else fails you must give others a chance Delort, Reira , Flores, etc . And on the subject of bad trainers ? Shit trainers exist at every level of the game. You don’t have to be pro to hate training or never impress like forest gump ,,,,Jesus wept.

When something doesn’t work you have to explore every option at hand no matter if its outside your principles or are we still on the Martinez my way or the highway method ????

But as a whole I thought Saturdays performance was a marked improvement and both goal keepers stopped it from been a high scoring match.

Forshaw & Watson are too alike , macca coming on with 20 to go might have tipped it for us but Maloney (once on) with his direct running changed the game.

Would a Delort or Riera have changed the game ? Until our manager thinks outside the box we’ll never know. That’s what makes good managers, adapting ,motivating and risk taking. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it but if it’s smashed to shite you try everything within your powers to fix it you just don’t leave it and hope it self heals

I’m beginning to think it’s football politics and money that’s the reason why certain players aren’t getting a run out, it’s gotta be.

I’ve had a scout round the other latics forums tonight just to see others thoughts and where my views stood in the bigger picture of things.

Interesting. Not far from a Malky out campaign in the offing. This place is actually the exception to what I’m reading elsewhere, not that that’s a bad thing.

Nobody has yet answered the question from the happy clappers as to why you think it’s a good idea to let this Malky bloke have a clear out and bring in his own players when in reality he could be gone in the not too distant.

Dave Whelan as Chairman/owner/saviour/profiteer of this club has chosen Malky Mackay as his Manager and the man tasked with saving our season.

Now I, like you and everyone else was hoping the corner would have been turned by now but it’s obvious we have bigger problems than who our Manager is and whether he’s a racist or not.

The only performance so far that I’ve seen from us under Mackay in which we’ve given 110% is Leeds. Coincidence that the players paid for that game? Maybe. Maybe not.

Either way, there are several players not good/committed enough to play for this club and as Manager Malky has the right to manage the clear out that could save our season. If the FA step in at some point then so be it, but if he’s turned our season around I wouldn’t expect him to be sacked.

            Who mentioned Forest Gump?

You don’t have to tear-arse around everywhere to impress in training. They have practice matches, different excercises. It’s not just about running around.

If you have two players of similar ability and one shows he’s willing to put the effort in during training and one can’t be arse – which one is goig to get picked?

Never mind at least they didn’t knock any cones over in training

I’m just reading Riera off to Deportivo on loan?

Who will we be left with and who has Malky got in mid as a Jan purchase upfront?

In all likelihood it will be somebody he has worked with before.
Any gems from his Cardiff or Watford days?
So the latest rumour is Danny Graham, who Mackay knows from Watford.

If true, I’m unsure he is our saviour.
Decent finisher and has had a good scoring record at this level, but Swansea couldn’t get rid of him fast enough amid rumours of drink and even drug problems.

Since at Sunderland has been loaned out and seems to have been sent back wherever he went.

On the positive side, maybe Malky is the man to get the best out of him.

There has to come to a point that you know no matter how you train or how many goals your score in the reserves you ain’t gonna get picked. With a striker , the proofs in the goals. It doesn’t matter about holding the bib in piggy in the middle or skipping through the ladders it’s about been in the right place at the right time and scoring.
I don’t know if he is any good but I know that when all my other options have been exhausted I would have at least tried him at least in the cup,,,,Bolton did.

Training and playing in a competitive game are worlds apart, how many times do you hear a manager say ” He’s not match fit, he’s not ready he needs ** games under his belt”. He’s never been given a crack at the whip like Dicko who must have also not been ready or was also shit in training. He scored 18 goals in 35 appearances Jan-Jan 2014-2015

More good news if it comes off! A full £150k we’ve offered for this kingpin of one of the best leagues in the world. Go on Malky!

Dundee United winger Gary Mackay-Steven is reputedly the subject of a Latics bid, believed to be around £150,000, that has been turned down flat by the Scottish Premier League side. The midfield man is out of contract in the summer and has been attracting interest from several suitors though, if reports are true, it would appear that the Latics have made the first move for the 24 year old former Liverpool youth player.

With 21 goals in 107 appearances for the Tangerines the one cap Scotland international is a valuable member of the Dundee United team and looks to have the potential to take the Championship by storm. Whether the Latics can persuade him to join them in their current situation remains to be seen, as does the small matter of agreeing a fee with Dundee United.

Two managers have now felt that Fortune was a better option than Delort or Riera, so clerly there’s either something amiss with them.

I doubt it’s not being able to adapt to the formation, as certainly Riera at least is used to playing as a lone striker, so I can only presume both managers don’t think either has adapted to the English game sufficiently.

Out of the two of them I thought Riera looked the most promising.

Anyway, Waghorn scored for the Development Squad today so it looks like he’s on the mend and I’d expect him to be in with a shout in forthcoming weeks.

As a winger I would be more concerned with his assists than his goals.

I reckon we could be linked with Lionel Messi, James Rodriguez and Mats Hummels and you would still find something to whinge about.
