Just watched him playing for Feyenoord, away at Ajax. Live on ESPN.

Ajax tonked them 5-1, but I thought Denny had a decent game. He scored the goal of the game, with a decent strike, and went very close to a second with a stunning 30 yard volley that was tipped over. His touch and vision looked great.

I am wondering if it was a case of us having him at the wrong time, I mean I could have seen him playing Roberto’s way brilliantly. Instead, he played for us at a time when we tried our best to bypass the midfield, with long balls to Heskey. He got some stick when he was with us, but in my mind, and my opinion, we never played to his strengths. I think he’s a good player. I

also think Paul Scharner would be a great player in the more deliberate, slower build up style of Dutch football.

Martin Jol’s Ajax looked very good. Passing and build up play was very classy.

I for one, wish we had Denny Landzaat now. We could use him instead of bringing Gomez on

Bouaouzan was pretty impressive pre-season, a dammed site more impressive than Gomez, yet hasn’t had a look in yet…. weird innit that he played midfield against Crewe etc… but is actually on the books as a striker
