Going in work late so I could watch the game. F######## times up …..that was absolutely w###. No goal threat as usual, all the possession (nothing new there). What we are playing is as bad and as dull as I’ve seen in 50 years. Didn’t sign a back to goal yard dog instead relying on untried novices who will get their arses handed to em on a plate in this league. F%%% me Morecambe didn’t have to try, just wait for us to pass it to death, mistake, goal !!They’ve lost 5 consecutive games scored 0….f££££££ 0…This is his team, his recruits but what system we play is anyone’s guess. Tin pot cup my arse….Real chance for progress and who knows but not with this man …..we are heading for league 2 on the F####### bullet train.!!@
Is this manager the worst of the lot? I think he is.
Rosler had good moments, Coyle had some as well. Joyce…never worked and I think Mackay was the same. Toure was a clown, but the whole club was a charade when we appointed him.
Maloney HAS to go. But will our owner act? Is he bothered? There’s a really bad feeling about the club at present. Best thing I did, not renewing.
I watched his post match interview and the way he conducts himself is so uncomfortable I cringe it’s a painful watch.
Again, after a excellent performance against Birmingham were met with the same old regurgitation of possession go back football.
So one point were 1-2 down, 4 players make a run all were onside and what does Aimson do ? well he never even looked up tbh he simply passed back/side, all 4 players stop like the Road Runner in their tracks. It showed which way he’s been coached,
Pass left right back and try to move the opposition side to side
Totally failed but we kept doing it in the end Aimson turned into a left winger out of pure frustration.
McManaman showed at times how it’s done, just be brave, take a man on, always look forward look to get in behind.
Now lots call Stones saying he’s not good enough I’m not sure how they can come to that conclusion because he rarely plays more than an hour.
Maloney drags him off on 51 even though he basically he had nothing to go at bar the odd 50 harder over the top ball.
Hugill suffered the same shit when he came on and if anyone tells me Hugills any better than I’ll eat my hat.
This possession, keep passing till space appears does not work for us. Maloney is clearly out his depth and if I were Danson I’d get shut right now while everything’s still new.
Tactically Maloney is poor and normally like Saturday he just keeps
subbing. It’s like Stevie Wonder doing a rubic cube, do it long enough eventually you’ll get lucky.
It’s simple,
Move it quicker
Think forward first
Aim for players making the runs
More players prepared to use the dying art of take the opposition on
It’s poor awful to watch and when a side lying bottom in the country easily sit back and soak it up you have major issues
!

Two steps forward , 100 backwards
Pretty build up play with no end result as per usual.
Callum pinged two superb crosses in and nobody got near them and players seemed frightened to shoot towards goal or even attempt to get a situation going.
It’s bare bones stuff and when I saw the line up last night it’s the most paper thin line up since early 90s.
I still live in hope but for me it feels like a return to the very dark early 1990s especially when you watch a dismal performances like that.
It absolutely feels like a run down of the club and eventual league 2 demise with eventual return to non league.
Can it get any worse ?
Agreed it was tedious .It’s no use having all the possession when we do nothing with it.Morecambe haven’t scored all season but looked dangerous every time they went forward. The two stand out players were Aimson and McManaman and it made you realise that a lot of the fringe players are nowhere near first team level.
On a side note, almost missed the kick off due to the large queue outside .What’s that all about with a crowd of just 1,702 ?
Our club is going to Pot and it must be deep pockets Danson who has a plan to turn Wigan into an old fashioned rugby town.
Maybe I should write to him and request a refund on my season ticket. Pity there is not a “cooling off period” where you can get your money back if you are not satisfied.
I now fear the worst for this season, if we don’t make some drastic changes soon; and that includes replacing the Latics Legend Shaun Maloney.
They opened one stand the West Stand then 2 turnstiles (4 traps) for everyone which was embarrassing. Who the f*cks idea was that?.
It was only when the queue went from Whelan’s Bar to the ticket office turnstiles they decided to open one more trap.
Floodlights were the same, parts of that first half looked like we were going to play in the dark. It was dark and they only fully turned them full on in the second half.
Were penny pinching on a grandular scale on and off the field and its showing big time. Staffing numbers are at an all time low and to be queuing for 15 minutes when there’s 1700 on is a joke.
And as for the football?, there’s a Maloney tactic been employed that’s not nice to watch and probably it’s even worse to play in.
basically its, keep the ball for as long as possible and if there is no 100% certain pass forward then keep possession do not give it away, either pass sideways or back but retain possession at all cost.
It’s a case of, if we have the ball you can’t score but as we found out last night opposing sides only need 1 chance or 1 mistake and they’ll punish you.
M.Smith? nearly everyone you speak to says the exact same thing, he needs to play higher up the pitch so for him not to do it he’s been instructed by the manager not to.
A number of times he tried to dink balls through from the edge of the box little daisy cutters and you could see what he was trying to do but sadly he spent the vast majority of the evening bringing the ball out 6″ in front of Sibbik and Aimson, an absolute waste.
This negative slow passing back sideways build up play tactic breeds fear within the players, the fear not to give it away which inturn means the players are scared to take chances say a forward pass they prefer to turn back and start all over again.
Our players constantly take the easy option out pass sideways and back making sure they retain possession at all cost even if it means not going forward the do all and end all of Maloneys footballing handbook.
Stones? honestly I feel for this lad, he’s trying far far too hard but no matter what he does he’s not a chance and breaking into the starting line up under Maloney who clearly doesn’t fancy him.
Bringing him off on 51 minutes was for me disrespectful on the lad in a p!ss arse trophy I mean, other than this Cup when will he get another chance and is Hugill any better ? sadly Hugills no better employed as hold up guys which for lads so young it’s comical.
Stones for me is a box player not a half way line target man, if used correctly I’m sure he’d get goals but under Maloney he has zero chance.
I’m sure any half decent manager would get a tune out this side, and the sooner Maloney’s gone the better. If we don’t?, I’m afraid the rot will set in and there’ll be no coming back from it,
But
Danson is penny pinching, he’ll not get rid. He’d sooner watch us struggle and possibly go down rather than pay him off. Cut off your nose to spite your face comes to mind.
Our players need more freedom, risk taker, rather than pass pass pass. Players need to run more with the ball like McManaman did which worked time after time but to no avail (no one in the box)
The club feels empty, the team look fed up and the fans have seen enough, sadly as much as I would love to see it happen for Maloney and it clicks but sadly it’s not and changes need to be made now or we will suffer this season

Spot on CW.
It’s so depressing and I feel that if it wasn’t for the sentimental attachment to Shaun Maloney as a Latics player the fans would have had his head on a spike by now.
Sadly, I have no faith in Shaun’s ability to admit that his strategy is not working and to get stuck in and play proper football. In conclusion it’s time to wave goodbye
after sleeping on last night’s crap my opinion has actually strengthened. I really can’t fathom some posters on other forums really believing this is w.i.p. Played well in spells at Birmingham and Charlton but absolutely outplayed against Reading, Crawley and don’t start me on that disgrace last night. Even the friendlies were a shot across the bow. Our recruitment has been unstructured,no strengthening in the positions desperately needing attention. Shit load of totally untried development league standard kid’s and unfathomable tactics. As stated previously any manager with a modicum of ambition wouldn’t tolerate Matt Smith playing 2 feet ahead of C/H…….a total waste of his undoubted ability…..EVERYONE can see it game after game……why the F### doesn’t he ?????
Very sad to see very sad for the fans
But I do feel we are being run down by
Danson
And would not be surprised if laneghan is still in this with him
And we know how much he hates latics
Feel sorry for maloney surely the players he really wanted he could not get due to danson cutting our wage structure too much too soon
Leaving him looking for what we have now very poor
