Needs 2 tickets for Stoke game will pay 60 quid a ticket. Any takers?
18 May 2011 at 3:56 pm #66048Theres a few of us after them Geoff. Like Goldust unfortunately!… funny where the extra 600 come out who didn’t make it to Villa Park and even more from Sunderland.
As you can tell I’m not bitter.
18 May 2011 at 4:02 pm #66049Don’t get the club more was offered 3000 I believe but any tickets over 1400 the club have to pay for so they held out due to west ham result they asked for 800 more after the game but the police reckon they can’t get the numbers on time to police the game
18 May 2011 at 4:06 pm #66050Ahh so now I have another target to be bitter against the police! To be fair I have seen Stoke have not sold out yet and it could have been a possibility to perhaps just increase our allocation slightly and move the Stoke fans down that standby 10 seats or so, but this would take time and abit of know how, which our club and the police seem to have little of.
18 May 2011 at 4:11 pm #66053I understand the club is a business but potentially could be last game in the prem regardless of westham result n alot of us would of gone and sold the allocation for that reason alone plus what confidence In the team the club showed
18 May 2011 at 4:33 pm #66057Whilst it would have been nice to see the club take a gamble on losing out on a bit of cash in case results did not pan out the way they did i think its wrong for them to be taking the majority of the flak
The people who IMO should take responsibility for the low allocation are all those (myself included) who have stayed away from away games over the last few seasons. Like it or not Latics average away attendance is apparently 700 so i don’t think whoever made the decision can be blamed for thinking we might struggle to flog 300-400% more tickets than that
Its unfortunate that some non-season ticket holders who’ve been to a load of away games this season will have probably missed out.
Me? I’d have loved to have gone on Sunday but I can’t exactly complain that I’m unable to go (cockneylatic competition result pending!!!)As for taking some spare tickets in the stoke part of that stand & re-allocating them to the area by latics & pushing any stoke fans with tickets in that area into spare ones in the other area. Firstly I don’t see how Latics can be blamed for that not being done when its not even Latcis ground, secondly it would be an absolute logistical & admin nightmare & what do stoke do if there’s a group of people who bought tickets together but who would then be moved into seats dotted around that stand & either a) refuse to move or b) demand their money back? Who covers that cost?
Basically the decision has been made, its backfired on the club but I think their reasons for doing it are completely understandable. If you’re that desparate to go enter a competition or buy em in the stoke end
18 May 2011 at 4:44 pm #66060Already entered comp also but would rather cheer the guys on with the wiganers. Understand what you say and make a valid point about away allocation but still would of liked the club to have bought more maybe not 3000 being last game of season but a few extra either way let’s hope we stay up

But that’s the point Geoff, the club couldn’t just say give us another 78. It was either 1400 or 2800 (or 3000, whatever the figure was) not any old number in between that club fancied buying. It’s disappointing and probably needs chalking up to a lesson learned.
