If the ball hasn’t travelled more than the circumferance of the ball, it isn’t in play ! I thought that used to be the rule !!!! So the goal should not stand. Fookin Mariner didn’t think it was in play, cos he was ambling into the box with his back turned to Pedersen. Cheated, big style !!!!!!!!

Plus, Pedersen takes every single corner. So what was Mariner thinking ???

Yeah that used to be the rule. Got changed a season or two ago though, ball only has to be touched now…

I haven’t seen the incident on telly since the game & I didn’t see it at the time but if there was no contact from Yakubu & Mariner had his back to play then he’s made a mistake
Just like Caldwell made a mistake for the first goal, just like several players then made the mistake of not playing to the whistle for the second goal & just like Jones made a mistake committing the foul for the penalty.
It happens. People make mistakes so deal with it. When people, like Martinez, start going on about being cheated & the odds being stacked against Latics when it comes to decisions its the last cry of the desperate & merely provides a smokescreen to the fact that the side yesterday wasn’t good enough to beat a team playing with 10 men for virtually half the game

Does anybody bother with body language?! There’s no debate to be had he cheated take a look at his expression. He looked in to the box and the ref and made his move. If Yakubu had touched the ball Pedersen wouldn’t of gotten his head up to scan the surroundings or taken his time. You can see by his body language that he was chancing it.

Mistakes differ somewhat here Tyldesley in respect to Caldwell missing the ball and Pedersen cheating to win behind the ref’s back. I don’t blame the referee I think his shock at what just happened overwhelmed him somewhat and so he plodded on.

Unfortunately football these days uses clear cheating as talking points just to pass the time. It’s a freak show with nobody enforcing the law and punishing those who break it. For me Pedersen would be in HQ on Monday, fined and banned. Set a precedent right now and sift out the swearing at officials, diving everytime going 1-1 with goalkeepers, diving around players who have been booked, or any forms of cheating to gain an advantage. Get some morals, standards, ethics or whatever you wanna call it back.

      Bugger I’m dreaming again!

My comments clearly aren’t about Pedersen, they were about the ref.
Its the ref that Martinez was blaming yesterday not Pedersen and to be honest all Pedersen needs to say is that he thought Yakubu had taken it & then he played to the whistle.
I just think that Martinez blaming the referee yesterday & coming out with all this “Wigan Athletic don’t get decisions from ref’s” crap in a game where the referee sent off an opposition player (and having just watched the highlights shortly after Dunn’s initial caution he is hacked down from behind in a virtually identical manner to the foul he committed, and the ref doesn’t give a caution) smacks of desperation coz the fact of the matter is that his team weren’t good enough to be beat a very poor Blackburn side who played for about 40 minutes with 1 less man than Latics.
I also note that whilst blaming the ref, Bobby keeps quiet about the fact that our 1st goal should have been disallowed
IMO his post match comments just make him look pathetic & bitter. Also IMO the performance from his team when blackburn went a man down was poor & that’s where the game was lost
