Dont understand mr Whelan

I find it baffling why?.
Dave Whelan took control of a small struggling football club with a delapidated stadium and firmly fixed at the foot of the entire football league facing relegation and possible closure. He stated he wanted to take this club into the promised land which made many people myself included laugh loudly. He backed his statement up with the cash needed to transform the little club and had to plead with the football league to let them play one more season at the old run down ground untill a new stadium was readied. He brought in managers and players who steadily brought success to the club. He guided them through the divisions with shrewd acumen and performed the ultimate footballing miracle in 2005 when promotion to the Premiership was assured v Reading on a memorable Sunday with a 3-1 win. The miracle expanded when a major cup final was reached along with a top ten finish in the clubs first season in top flight football. Perhaps even more miraculous is that 5 seasons later the club is still in the Premier. So
I find it baffling why?
The hell has Dave Whelan been prepared to let Roberto Martinez put ever bit of hard work thats been achieved in serious jeopardy? Even Bobs biggest supporters would have to concede that any other manager at any other club in Europe would have bit the dust by now with his record. Portsmouth was just the latest in a long line of embarrasments this season something Latics fans have not been accustomed to over the years. The guy just flatly refuses to see his mistakes refuses to change and even more worrying doesnt seem to believe we are in a relegation battle. Its too late now Dave the damage is done lets hope its not irrepairable.
