Why are the doom and gloom merchants predicting our relegation with 10 games left to go?
Okay so we didn’t get what we deserved on Saturday, but it wasn’t a surprise we lost.
The fact we are a point away from the teams above us with a weak defence and an even weaker attack should give us cause for optimism. If you believe what the soothsayers of doom are spouting out we have already gone, but in this crazy season we are one win away from being out of the relegation zone.
This relegation fight is going to go down to the wire and despite how poorly we have played at times this season I just think we may escape.
I think there will be a couple of teams who will drop like stones into the bottom three this season.
But let’s hope the players read message boards like this because if they start believing they are already down then they may just play with a bit of freedom and get the points we need
28 February 2011 at 7:26 pm #60782Surely its the fact that we have a weaker defence & a weaker attack that makes people think that Latcis will find it extremely hard to get out of the relegation zone – especially when 3 of our next 4 games come against teams in the top 5 & we could be significantly further away from safety than the current 1 point with just 6 games to go
On top of that when our team has only won 1 of its last 12 league games (& only 5 wins in 28 games this season), some people find it very hard to think that somehow the team is going to pull 4 wins in 10 games out of the bag – a win ratio that the team has never come close to achieving with Bobby in charge
You’re right in that some clubs who some think are safe will get dragged down further into the mire – Blackpool & Blackburn and to a lesser extent West Brom (lesser extent in terms of the fact that many see em as relegation fodder already) but I personally don’t see anything that would indicate to me that Latics are one of the clubs capable of putting a run together to take advantage of that
28 February 2011 at 7:37 pm #60786We don’t need four wins. Three wins and three draws may well do it.
And if we do manage it we can all go like this :character-beavisbutthead:

bet fred wouldnt give you odds on doing that and he takes bets on anything.
not that i know, but these pop ups i keep getting say that
2 March 2011 at 1:41 am #60963bit of a hollow threat that – and you know it,You’re right.
It was either Mighty Aff’s gaff, or Loudmouthblue’s flue and I went for option 1.
I’d quickly ruled out Bickymon’s pon and CockneyLatic’s attic
2 March 2011 at 1:42 am #60964Not that it carries any partictular significance but I sat and watched Stoke v West Brom last night thinking we’re no worse than this.

We just have an uncanny knack of conceeding soft goals, whilst we struggle to score many ourselves. It’s a bad recipe, that, isn’t it?
Worst thing is we are rooted at the bottom, and are away at a club that has spent crazy money, on Saturday. A gap may well form shortly, and then when that happens, you can actually win games and be no better off, if the other clubs results go against you.
I am sure it won’t go down to the last game and we’ll know with about 2 or 3 games left if we are going down.
