This is a generic England side of the late 90’s/early 00’s, none of whom ever won the Ashes.
Atherton
Butcher
Hussain
Thorpe
Hick/Crawley/Ramps
Stewart
Cork
Croft
Gough
Caddick
FraserI reckon they would beat the current Australia team, and the current England team, mainly because of a much superior bowling attack to either team. And I reckon that batting team would fancy facing our or their attack.

That team got tonked by arguably the best cricket team of recent years but too many where inconsistent ,out of that team I would replace Collingwood for Thorpe and thats about it
21 December 2010 at 10:21 pm #53755That team from the 90’s had some really good players in, they were just up against a brilliant Aussie side. The current team is pretty average, particularly in pace bowling – Anderson averages 32, Broad 35, but are up against a poor Aussie side.
From the side that started the first Test vs the side from the 90’s I’d swap
Gough for Anderson
Cork for Broad
Fraser for Finn
Stewart for Prior
Atherton or Hussain for Bell
Thorpe for Collingwood21 December 2010 at 11:29 pm #53760Anonymous
Currently Anderson is ranked second in the world and Swann is third so imo you keep them two in especially Swann over Croft for batting alone

You lot must have been good!!
23 December 2010 at 10:39 pm #53899Last time I saw Lancashire:
Green, Worsley, Pilling, Snellgrove, Sullivan, Lloyd, Lever, Higgs, Shuttleworth, Greenough and Goodwin. 1965 against the South Africans (pre-apartheid!!).A few years earlier had watched a Roses match with Statham and Trueman both playing.
Now that was proper cricket!!

Well done England regaining thashes this morning :D
31 December 2010 at 2:18 pm #54247Yes – great to see after all these years – but I also reckon this is the poorest Aussie side since we last won over there in 1986.
