Just reading about the England fan club trying to push for england fans to buy the remaining 6000 tickets out of 29000 tickets allocated. They have just gone on general sale.

What happened to the expected two and half million fans going, predicted by some of the media. Ok overhyped as usual but I thought the tickets would of been like gold dust? I am tempted to try and go, was thinking of going before even just to watch the games in the fans zones etc. We have sold more tickets than anybody else, maybe security is an issue.

Sounds like ticket sales aren’t going too well.

Germany have only sold 1,700 of their 29,000 allocation and Holland have sold around 7,000 of their 29,000 allocation.

You can get travel packages and tickets easy enough through the official travel channels:

Other than that, you can apply for tickets, but accommodation is virtually impossible if you’re arranging it yourself.

I would have thought the crime worry, overpriced flights and lack of accomodation might have something to do with it. 4 grand for the group stages, my god they expect how many people to book that? I went to Japan for half that and we stayed to the quarter finals !

Fifa will drop ticket prices closer to the time for locals and call it a peoples finals !

I’d have thought that the main reason stopping most people going is the price of it.
The “crime worry” doesn’t stop thousands of cricket & rugby fans going but the prices I’ve heard banded about are fecking ridiculous.
There were blokes on TalkSport this morning saying they are beign quoted prices of between £3.5k & £6.5k & some of them were packages that didn’t include tickets!! Anyone who pays that wants their bumps feeling to be honest especially considering how dirt cheap the place is for tourists at any other time

I’m looking forward to watching the games. Where we will be based, there are loads of bars of all kinds, and we have a specific bar in mind. It’ll be June, hopefully nice weather, and it’ll be great fun……..

…oh did I mention I was going to watch the games in Liverpool?

            Good one, that.

Actually, my Scouse mate tells me that TOXTETH (yeah, I know) is decent for a drink. I’m a bit shocked like, but honestly, he’s serious. say’s he went a few weeks ago and it was a belting night out!

            And he was serious!

Salt of the earth though, most Liverpudlians. Honestly. Had many a good night in Liverpool. Yet go to some shythole place like Todmorden and it really is inbred central. Chicks with dicks, and all that.

Being from Skem, Iraq or Afghan wouldn’t be a problem so South Africa would be a peice of cake.
I have to question his sanity about going to Liverpool though, that is brave.

              ;)

Give me a night round Skem, rather than King Street, ANY day.

Last time out in Wigan, I witnessed two pri*ks giving a CASHPOINT a hell of a kick in. Why?

                Actually no…..Liverpool anytime.

In all fairness, Toxteth is a good night out if you are going in places like the Great Eastern and all the other old pubs….possibly only one of a few areas where you can get Killkenny on draft (and at about £1.80 a pint)

I think that people believe the hype in the media and the violence in south africa. The reality is a lot of major sporting events take place there without issue.

Cost is the big worry for most, but with the added risk factor and the recession, people might not take the risk.

As for comparing South Africa to Liverpool, I doubt the South Africans have as big a chip on their shoulders and you can probably understand them better !
