what do you think good thing or bad ? according to wenger he can see it coming off, personally i would be glad to see the back of certain clubs and let them take the greed with them ,but what worries me i can see sky pulling out of the prem league and pumping everything in to the greedy league ….what are your thoughts on this ?

If a Super League did take place. I think the lower leagues could benefit.

Lots of people won’t be able to go to Milan, Barcelona etc etc etc to watch their team play. For money reasons, convenience etc. So instead of watching their “big team” if you like. They may take the alternative of watching their local lower league team. It would be cheaper, closer to home and alot of fun. Then the true spirit of football would be back and we would have less glory hunters. So all in all, A European Super League might not be so bad.

It wont happen, what will happen to the champions league then?
How are they going to decide who gets in for the first season.
Its not fair on the fans who would be expected to travel across europe every other weak. The champs league is exciting now as they are big games once a year in a knockout format with a few surprises, if it was a repetative league season after season playing each other twice a season it would soon get boring. We have the best league in the world (apparently) so lets keap it.
If the FA want to do it to even the score for the rest of the prem then why dont they introduce a salary cap, although not based on attendceies else we are knackered lol.

If we had a salary cap. Then the top earners, (the best players) would go abroad to earn more money. And then we wouldn’t have the best league in the world.

It would only work if there was a global salary cap.

How would this super league work? How many teams get relegated? How many teams get promoted?

Say if only Scottish teams and Ukrainian teams get relegated. Then English teams other than the big 4 wouldn’t get a place in the super league. As I imagine Scottish teams can only be replaced by other Scottish teams and Ukrainian teams only replaced by Ukrainian teams and so on.

Lets be honest the only Wigan team that would ever be in the super league will be the warriors.

Let them go then, good riddance, we watched latics at the bootom of the 3rd division, that certainly wasn’t the best league in the world but i enjoyed that more than this premier b u ll s h i t.

i see it as a closed shop,no promotion or relegation just the top clubs from each league ,sounds boring bit like scotish football ,but thats how i think it will go …think it will be the usual champions league teams forming it

No, promotion and relegation is what makes football interesting. Players won’t want to go down divisions as they won’t come back up. Stories of teams rises from league 2 to the Prem such as ours wouldn’t exist. And it’s stories like that, that make up the heart and soul of football. Without promotion and relegation. If you aint 1st, then you’re last.

thats why i would like it to happen ,you take out all the greedy clubs and the rest of us can resume with football that would not kill itself through greed ,and make english football a working class sport once more .for the fans i mean

You mean you’d like a European Super League? In some ways, I would too. But for then whoever wins the Prem, it wouldn’t feel like a proper victory as even though they won. They’re not the best team in England as there’s better teams in the super league.

i see it differantly year in year out its the same four teams in the prem if you take them out then the league will be wide open again ,and make it more interesting i would not miss the top four clubs ,also they would not be classed as as playing in the english prem league, but just greedy european teams,if you know what im trying to say matey .they would not be in the fa cup or league cup better for us all in the long run .

tbh, I’d love that. But I imagine there would be side effects of the super league.

only worry i have is if sky pull the plug on the prem and we lose 50 million a year ….but the good side would be wages would be more realistic and not over the top ,better chance of winning something, away games could be cheaper ie not like chelski charge ….maybe more fans would go to games if wages were more realistic

Ive looked at financial plans for a european superleague and believe me it would never work.

As daft as it sounds sky needs the other clubs in the league to make it financially viable and they also need promotion and relegation to give it a edge.

For instance if 10million people subscribed to Sky Sports 3.5 mil might be top 4 fans but the other 6.5mil would be fans of spurs, wigan etc. PLus maybe 1mil of those would be fans of lower teams that may get promoted.

I know its not exact its just a example.

Add to this then that crowds would drop with less away fans travelling and clubs on the continent dont get great following for league games.

The clubs also need a strong domestic league to rape and pillage for players.
All the plans say its a no go and that it would be popular for the first 2-3 years but would then die down. Similar to the Champions League.

Theyd be better scrapping that and playing weds superleague games!
