Wilfred (“Wilf”) James Mannion (16 May 1918 – 14 April 2000) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward, making over 350 senior appearances for Middlesbrough. He also played international football for England. With his blond hair, he was nickamed “The Golden Boy” (taken from Wiki)….wrote in the Sunday People in 1954:

I am amazed that some people think it is a scourge of the current game (ie since $ky) but as we see,and history will show that, it happened decades before this quote.

There has been a ‘twitcher Harry’ in every decade.

As for Mr Standish’ question to discuss – elementary – it is the “society without secrets” who decide these things in the higher echelons…………………and there is no changing their mindset.

It shows where UEFA’s priorities lie
They’ll have earnt untold millions from “exclusive” sponsorship deals including (I assume) one for the official bookmaker of the tournament & part of those deals will be ensuring no other companies other than those who have signed deals are advertised anywhere in the stadiums. What bendtner did will ensure they’re beating a path to UEFA’s door & so they’ve punished him heavily as a result
It stinks but they have previous coz Man City were more heavily fined for going out on the pitch late for a european game last season than their opponents were for their fans racist abuse of City players

Just like FIFA can bully the govt of one of the biggest economies in the world into changing their laws in order to ensure FIFA’s exclusive alcohol deal with whichever brewer isn’t threatened
