I don’t think United stole YAMS to be honest.
It was just one of those songs that suited football, so was adopted by a few.
Isn’t/Wasn’t one of the Everton fanzines called “When Skies Are Grey”? If that’s the case then I’d imagine that at some point in the past “You Are My Sunshine” has been sang by their fans
