Does any of the clubs hierarchy actually go to matches on a regular basis? I don’t think they do otherwise they would realise the shit being served up, I know they where out in force for the United game even Danson attended.

If any of them did attend then Maloney would have been out of the door before Christmas, they are obviously not football people they probably look at the league table once a week and think we are doing ok, these people don’t have WAFC at heart.

VAT summed it up, the club is a shit show from top to bottom, Maloney in his post match interview said he “won’t be changing the style of play” Thanks for the heads up Shaun that’ll save me a few quid on a season ticket next season! And I won’t be on my own either.

The style of football we played under Leam Richardson was far worse. You can see what Maloney is trying to do. We have to be patient , this season is all about staying up. Let’s judge him at the end of next season where , hopefully , he will have some money to spend ,it will be his squad and he will have no excuses.

Well I wont be there. Even considering the thought of enduring another season of this turgid shite Maloney is getting them churning out, nah I’ll walk away first.

Fans dropping off rapidly…can see each home game. Danson is going to have to make a call soon, and Im not joking. Come the summer and suchlikes as Magennis, Pearce, Wyke, Jones, Amos will be going/have to go. What will Danson do, will he chuck some money at Maloney ir whoever is manager? I doubt it. We will be looking at freebies and loans again…more hasbeens and never will be signings. Plus, we’ll probably lose Tickle and Hughes. So will be a lot weaker.

Nah, either run the club properly, sensibly, but also realistically, or don’t bother. I still think that if Danson doesn’t back Maloney or whoever is manager in the summer, we could easily go the way of Oldham and Rochdale and slip into Non League.

And I doubt very much they’ll sack Maloney anyway because no other manager, or at least any with any self respect, would come and work under the constraints theyd be under.

It’s a case of, Maloney has a philosophy on how the game should be played fueled by working, under and at the side of Martinez and that’s all hunky Dorey,

But,

The players need to be hand picked to play in this system, super comfortable on the ball when under pressure, very precise and quick when passing and super quick upstairs knowing we’re it’s gonna go before they get it.

If you have all these attributes the chances are your playing in the Prem.
Neil Warnock recently said,

“Every manager wants to emulate Pep’s style of play at City but they’ve not got the quality of player to do it”.

We have a thrown together side who are been taught the Pep come Barcelona way and thats fine but most are leaving in the Summer so it serves no point.

It’s horses for courses and were looking more like Mr Ed than Red Rum and the players are struggling to play his way.

The half way line side to side passing achieves absolutely jack sh!t if the opposition press quick and your players aren’t good enough to play their way out of it.

CW, you’ve hit the nail on it’s head with the “quick upstairs” remark.
We see very little of that amongst our team and if someone does make space for a game splitting pass, you can guarantee that we are still pissing about sideways and backwards.

Listening to radio Lancashire on the way home yesterday.
Two ex Rovers players were (one of which was Kevin Gallagher) criticising the way that Jon Dahl Tomasson had them playing.
Sounded like a carbon copy of the Latics, i.e.
Goalie rolls the ball out from the back, players pass it square and backwards in and around the 18 yd area. In general, sitting back far too deep; thus giving the opposition opportunity to press high and take advantage of poor passing and mistakes from the Rovers defence. Corners being taken short, resulting in the ball not even getting into the opposition’s goal area.
Then they discussed the changes that David Lowe (who was in charge of Rovers for one game) made yesterday which resulted in a good performance. Defence was pushed up, still played a lot of possession, but around the halfway line and into the attacking half of the pitch. Goalie only rolled out the ball on rare occasions and there was no farting about in their own area. All corners were taken like corners are supposed to be. In summary, the two reporters, said the simple changes made a big difference and the fans went home happy.

Not difficult is it :whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle: :whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle: :whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle:

I honestly didn’t know Dahl Tomason had left Rovers. Just shows, Id have been straight onto that…but losing interest in football in general. But sounds like David Lowe has a fair idea.

Loads of managers and teams leaning towards Pep’s way of doing thing. But City have 100 million players doing it, we have a young lad, Hughes, and a cheap on loan journeyman, Good trying to play it, along with another journeyman, Clare, and a young loaned, Chambers. Its like trying to recreate the mona-lisa with Crayons. It just ain’t going to happen.

For me, its simple. Get the ball to the halfway line or into their half and THEN start trying to play fancier stuff. One problem is Magennis as the front man. Wins nothing, so holds nothing up, so inadvertently the ball is with the opposition and they’re coming back at us again, and then we are too deep. We are pinned on the backfoot by teams, even as the home side. That’s chronically wrong.
We’ve no steel, no leader on the pitch. We’ve no Sean Gregan, We’ve no Charlie Adam, he’ll, we’ve no Neill Rimmer in the centre of the park. Adeeko and S Smith are players who should be bit-part fringe players. Matt Smith is class…can spot a pass, but A, we hardly give him any options, and B, he needs someone solid alongside him to allow him that freedom.
Whatever is going on with Humphreys, needs sorting. If he wants away, Maloney should tell him to play well and get noticed by other clubs. I heard there were words between him and Jonny Smith yesterday. That’s the thing, they’re playing like strangers, like individuals who don’t know each other. If I were Maloney Id have them all off to an army barracks for some ‘team building’ exercises. Id also be suggesting something like a night out for a squad meal if we beat Bolton. Things like that..because there doesn’t seem to be a sense of comradeship at all. Like him or loathe him, I’m from the Neil Warnock old-skool of doing things. Spirit, togetherness. We certainly had that under Paul Jewell.

I dont know why managers don’t play 4-4-2. You have to do the basic things right before you can even look at the fancier things. Someone said that apparently 442 isn’t flexible enough for the modern game. Balls. Solid back 4, solid midfield, a mix of a big man and a fast goalpoacher up front. It’s really not complicated at all.
We’ve farmed Wyke out to get rid of his wages, or a chunk of them. But doing that and in the process putting reliance on Magennis, honestly, that’s a ridiculous move. Leaving us short up front could cost us goals and ultimately, points. We aren’t safe yet, not at all. Kelman looks fast and could be good, but its a gamble. I’d have sooner have kept Wyke and shipped out Magennis…but who would want him? Nobody. This balancing the books and trying to stay up…dangerous game to play.

But game we have to play, Ns lessons Maloney SHOULD have learned weeks ago. Stop this playing out from the back nonsense. Can we get back to the old goal kicks? Try and get the ball to the half way line, win it and try and get forward. Get the ball hit towards the corner flag for suchlikes and J Smith, J Jones, or Cal Mac to get after. Or even Kalman to chase, hold up and build something. This ‘brand’ of football Maloney plays…its as bad as I’ve seen as a Latics supporter. It’s got to change…and right away. But he’s a stubborn fool I think and it will only end one way. Seen it plenty of times.
