12,893 for the biggest derby in the rugby league world*(*well yorkshire and 2 states in oz).
PATHETIC………can’t wait to see how many they get on in their SECOND attempt.
any reason or excuse mr goose…………..utd v chelsea perhaps, or the PROPER rugby world cup maybe?????.ticket prices too high (£18) that means there was 8.5k home fans as saints filled north stand.
Yet more evidence that it’s an old fashioned dying village hobby………….good riddance yorkshire

They should close the West and North stands for this fixture – at least then the cameras will not be showing even more empty seats.
When I asked a chubster how come there was so many empty seats for such a big game I was told to Fuck Off. Mardy sods aren’t they. Mind you didn’t help when I laughed at Wigan getting that try disallowed
that means there was 8.5k home fans as saints filled north stand.
Let yourself down with this one I’m afraid. They brought between 2.5k and 2.8k which is half the North Stand. Also, only tickets in the South Stand (4500 for rugby games) were £18. The rest were £20. (not a great deal I know but lets deal in facts shall we)
No excuse really other than the fact that the system is flawed and pathetic. The game didn’t really mean THAT much in terms of the playoffs as both sides would get a second bite and will probably end up playing each other again next week. When we played Leeds in the same scenario last year the crowd was only 12k. If we get anywhere near that on Sunday I’ll be amazed. No away fans and a second set of tickets to be paid out for (add that to Wembley and Warrington from this months pay packet) and we’ll be lucky to get 10k. Again, no excuse really which is why I’ll be there.
Now over to you…….why when Latics played Bolton in the Carling Cup QF (a derby, a cup competition with no second chance, and ultimately Latics biggest cup game in almost a generation) was the crowd just 13401 with a bigger away following???? Is it because people can’t afford cup tickets on top of season tickets some times and so pick and choose when to attend??? 27000 managed to afford Cardiff for example despite just 12181 (we’ve had over 10k for a cup match just twice since in 8 attempts) making the semi final. Why is that????
Now instead of worrying about the size of the rugby crowds, why not worry about a- the size of ours or b- our performances on the field??
you sound exactly like 2 lads in work, when questioned about last sunday they instantly turned it on to wigan athletic :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:
NO EXCUSES PAL……..should have been 25k on…NO EXCUSES……
Just think if the eggs had to pay prem prices        and don’t receive free admin 4 away matches (under 16’s).
We’re not the champions or cup winners of our sport, yet we are already over 1k better of than the eggs season average after just 2 games…………….(go on blame it on the away following boosting it up)
I think the Egg has summed it up pretty well. You know and I know and every other fecker knows that the crowd for Wigan v Catalan will be of a similar size to the likes of Latics v Hull City in the FA Cup, with the only difference being the crowd will not be made up of 50% of visiting fans.
Now, rather than having a w@nkfest over a crowd size for a game that you hate with a passion, why dont you contemplate how September has been for your beloved Latics? After the unbeaten start against the 3 sides tipped to be in the relegation mix, I see things have returned to normal once you’ve started to play the regular premiership teams. Oh and of course lets not forget you got knocked out of the cup against lower league opposition.
Maybe Martinez & Whelan should be on BBC1 at 5.15pm on Monday to Friday hosting that game show.
I’ve already said there are no excuses, but those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones should they?
There should have been 25k on last week, but there should be each and every time Latics play in the PL. Fact is, there isn’t. Be it cost, performance, history, whatever.
For the 9826582324587th time, both sides average the same number of home fans.
