I know we have to make a profit on transfers, we only get small crowds, Whelan is paying out of his own money to service our debts blah blah. BUT you and Griff and all the rest of the club can do no wrong brigade, cannot tell me you are happy with our transfer window dealings???????

Ask me when the transfer window shuts too much panicking going on
9 August 2011 at 1:06 am #69724Exactly 33!!
We are all hoping for at least one or two new signings and players that will be capable of going straight into the first team, not some young French kid who will potentially be up for it in 2 seasons time.
However, there is another 3 weeks to go before the window shuts, it’s not next week so lets see what happens. If Bobby doesn’t get a decent replacement for Zog, then I will be a bit worried / annoyed. However, with what I’ve seen from David Jones in the 2 matches he’s featured, I can see him making a better contribution than young Tom did.
I know he was plagued with injuries last season, but at times he flattered to deceive, especially in the last 3-4 games when we needed him to shine.Lets all chill for a week or two and see what unfolds. ;)
From Matlock to ManU

Good ,keep it that way :D
9 August 2011 at 11:45 am #69740In this day and age when financial problems are hitting the whole world, we actually see a chairman who is trying not to bankrupt the club and be prudent with his money, and yes the transfer window aint shut yet, people seem to criticise far too easily.
how many debates on this site have come to the conclusion that we need to sell as a club to survice and hope we pick up the next big bargain to keep it going. yet people still want us to spend spend spend…

i am not one of “the club can do no wrong brigade” far from it but i am totally happy with our transfer dealings, because of outrageous transfer fees and unrealistic wage demands we have to be both careful and prudent in any deal we make, i also believe that martinez and his backroom staff are working on filling the gaps within the squad.
every club in europe is looking into the same pot to find the players they need.
looking at the players they have signed i would be more worried if we had spent the sorts of money liverpool or man u and others have.
yes we do need some replacements – 2 will be loans and the players we would target will be close to the first team squads and you can bet negotations have been started but parent clubs will not decide until nearer the transfer deadline who they will loan out.we look like starting the season without just 2 players from last, cleverly and nzogbia, who both missed games last season we have added jones so thats just one player down for now.
i may not have total faith in martinez just yet but whelan has my full backing on how he runs the club and a touch of realism is required until a russian oligarch or arab sheik meets your lofted aspirations.
9 August 2011 at 7:12 pm #69769I did respond to this earlier but it seems to have disappeared into the ether.
Anyway, they gist of my reply was what what others have said already, principally LMB and Edinburgh.
Plus, i couldn’t resist a little dig about being surprised that, despite dozens of people explaining it in hundreds of previous posts, it seems that some folk still just don’t get how a club like ours needs to be run. And yet these same folk expect to be taken seriously.
9 August 2011 at 10:57 pm #69776I would sooner support a team that tries to cut it’s cloth accordingly rather than the likes of Leeds did-and we do have a manager and chairman who have a passion for the team and a vision for the future.
We (fans) have to remember that we are punching way,way above our weight in terms of league status (and long may it continue). :angry-soapbox:
Martinez is by no means perfect, but I do believe there are plans in the pipeline to replace the zogmeister and cleverley-just let’s hope it’s not those two new mascots :D -
