Is it time the FA CUP winners fill the last Champions league spot not 4th spot in prem,it would increase the focus on the comp, no more weakend teams and more interest in the competition at the end of the day its called the Champions league NOT who came 4th in the prem.

Good effort at killing your own argument, there. ;)
In all seriousness, Wigan winning the FA Cup last season has probably ensured that your suggestion will never come to pass. Not a chance that the powers that be would risk little Wigan or their ilk qualifying for the Champions League.
16 January 2014 at 2:21 am #125992No more singing Champions at our games for you then Griff but for the future of the Competion its the only way forward at least whoever wins the FA CUP R Champions.

Yet another example of how thick lots of our fans are.
16 January 2014 at 2:36 am #125994Doesn’t have the same ring to it, I’m in Croydon at moment and the Palace fans here want survival not the Cup, let’s hope that goes in our favour and we progress or do we hope for promotion and play weakend team ourselves!!!
16 January 2014 at 2:51 am #125995Last season, we played our strongest team in the Cup Final and won. Meanwhile, Arsenal rested. On the Tuesday, we played at Arsenal and lost. We were relegated.
But I don’t know anyone who would swap winning the Cup for survival in the Premier League. We will always be recorded as 2013 Cup Winners.
I’m looking forward to the cup tie against Palace. We certainly have a chance of winning it. Winning the Premier League to become Champions is beyond our reach just now.

Oh yeah give it to the 4th placed team in the PL !!!!! :cheer:
16 January 2014 at 5:05 am #125999Its a self-defeating scenario. If the FA Cup winners were given a place, then Wigan would have entered the CL qualifying stages and in all probability been eliminated before the group stages commenced.
The result of one of the four not making the group stages would be an overall reduction in the points allocated for each nations’ clubs’ perfomances, which in turn would lead to a reduction in how many places English Clubs are allowed in the CL.

A definition of the word champion…
“Someone or something ( Such as a team or an animal ) who has surpassed all rivals in a contest or competition ( Sporting or other ).” ;) Just saying !
16 January 2014 at 3:16 pm #126009Clubs don’t play all their rivals in a cup competition, do they?

Don’t spend any time worrying about it Phil, I’m right. ;)
I defy anyone to find any example anywhere – outside of the small gene pool that lives in the East Stand – in which the team that wins the FA Challenge Cup is referred to as anything other than the FA Cup Winners or the FA Cup Holders.
17 January 2014 at 9:14 am #126012Contender for most ridiculous thread of the year – but there is a long way still to go.
