10 March 2014 at 10:48 pm #128458Are you still going to argue this ,SOD OFF .I sang it until I was blue in the face yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed myself, too.
But, it’s still wrong, and I have yet to ask anyone with more than half a brain cell who disagrees.
10 March 2014 at 11:03 pm #128462A champion (from the late Latin campio) is the victor in a challenge, contest or competition.
10 March 2014 at 11:16 pm #128463The winners of the FIFA World Cup this summer will be referred to as the “World Champions” more often than the “World Cup winners”
Who cares anyway. We won the cup and in our defence of said cup are making a mockery out of all those media people who called us fluke winners.
We have six home games before Wembley…so by then we will have cemented a play off place and may well be challenging for automatic promotion, especially if the Dingles slip up.
These are great times :cheer:
11 March 2014 at 2:36 am #128472We are FA Cup winners.
Final won’t be our last game again, play off final week after.
We just keep p#####g them off. Bet FA are made up little Wigan won’t be taking 40,000 to the semis!!

11 March 2014 at 6:23 pm #128529That’s hardly a surprise.
There isn’t a single mention of FA Cup Champions on the first page.

It does, and the only website that features ‘FA Cup Champions’ is an Asian beting site.
Even one of the City forums picked up on it:

If it includes the name of a knock-out trophy, the team that wins it are known as the ‘winners’.
Nobody ever refers to Spain as the FIFA World Cup Champions.

I loved the Poznan piss take when we scored though and the Uwe Rosler he doesn’t wear shorts chant. :)
