I couldn’t give a flying what the media anybody else is saying. The simple facts are that
a) The semi should not be at Wembley
b) Ridiculous K.O time, considering the transport problems
c) Cost, considering theres’s every chance of returning, average folk just can’t afford two trips. I will only be able to afford one trip, which i hope is he final fingers crossed.
d) Wembley is on Millbrawl’s doorstep. No wonder they’ve sold their tickets. Its easy for hangers on to travel. It would be like a day trip to Bury market for us.
e) The F.A give sweet F.A about all of the above :angry:Its the same for every other club too. Just us who seem to have a problem getting fans down there.
a)they are at Wembley and everyone knew before third round.
b)ko time should not matter,if you really want to go.transport to London anytime is awful.
c)all 4 teams involved could return again,as has been said before, stoke sold out.they had to return again.
d)it’s easy for anyone to travel anywhere if they want to.newcastle fans to Russia on a Thursday night.
e)very truegod help us if we do get in Europe.like to see the bleating on here and from those not going to semi final, for reasons they have stated, if we have to travel to Kazakhstan on a Thursday night.no trains back from there either.
You’re taking the piss right? If i was single, no kids and not mortgaged up to my fuckin eyeballs, then i’d have gone home and away to every round.
FFS some people. :blink:11 April 2013 at 12:51 am #108676Anonymous
The club should have said how many we have sold instead of the big secretI’ve though the same myself. Why all the cloak and dagger? The club was always like that, but over recent seasons we’ve been far more open as a club.
A nice statement tomorrow saying ” we have sold 21,000 ” or whatever would be good.
In all honesty, if both clubs average crowds attended the game, there wouldn’t be 30,000 on, would there? Rivalry apart, I hope both Millwall fans and our own, show there is life beyond the ‘same old same old’ clubs. Congratulations to them for selling their allocation, and congratulations to our club for taking more than our average home support.

Makes me so damned mad, I am aabsolutely sick of the media hate for a Club who do everything right.
So spend beyond your means, buy useless priceless players…cheat, abuse referee’s, spout rubbish. Darlings of MOD, the Mail, Sky sports.
However we are probably the best footballing side in the Prem, have a manager and staff who only want the best, an elequent manager, who’s first language is not ours but speaks a 100% better than those who are indigenous to these shores.
Yet they want to belittle and continually want to see us relegated..why?

FFS some people.
Nobody should be criticized for not going to every game, not in todays financial climate. A lot of people are on their arse. Anybody with kids, a home to run and pay for, have different priorities.
In all honesty, I couldn’t go to every game. It would probably do my head in. I’ve other priorities anyway.

Because we have no history. We didn’t win the cup when they still used a laced ball. We didn’t have crowds of 60,000 back in 1930, when they all smoked Woodbines or Silver Service. We’ve never had a legendary Jock manager who smoked a pipe and made bold statements. We’ve never had top class footballing legends called Stan or Tommy playing for us. I could go on.
Basically, we are in the process of MAKING history. If you look at other North West clubs, I think I’m right on saying that Bury haven’t done much since they won the cup twice in the first few years of the 1900’s. Nobody is alive to remember.
Preston were last finalists in 1964, I think. They lost to West Ham. They last won the cup in….oh lets see….was it 1934 or 1938? (I know George Mutch scored the winner from the spot)••
Bolton were last in a final in 1958, when they beat a patched up United side (after Munich) two nil.
Last time Blackpool played in a final, Stan Matthews was man of the match! Shows how long ago it was. (1953)
Burnley were beaten finalists in 1961. (by spurs)
Blackburn, including Mr Whelan, were beaten finalists in 1960.All these ‘historic’ clubs have all had their big moments, but its fair to say that there will not be many people around to actually remember them. They were back in the days of Pathe news black and white newsreels.
WE are currently making history;
•• honestly didn’t google any of that. I know some mad football stuff, considering I’m only 36!
11 April 2013 at 1:30 am #1086841953 Matthews was man of the match and chaired off, but poor Stan Mortensen scored a hat trick!
11 April 2013 at 1:31 am #108685I really really hope that come 80 minutes we’ll be singing 3-0 to the Empty Seats. (Yes, I classify that as a proper noun)

1953 Matthews was man of the match and chaired off, but poor Stan Mortensen scored a hat trick! What about poor old Bill Perry, their other scorer that day? Totally overshadowed, and pretty much forgotton. I think he was their ‘outside left’, as they termed the left wing in those days. Might be wrong, but he might of even scored the winner (4-3) that day.
Stan Mortensen did well to even play football, as he had suffered serious head injuries in an air crash when he served as aircrew in a Lancaster Bomber in WW2. He was left prone to blackouts and other problems, yet went on to be a great striker for Blackpool and England. Very unlucky that his hattrick is overshadowed by Matthews performance that day.

11 April 2013 at 2:40 am #108699The club should have said how many we have sold instead of the big secretWhy? What purpose would that have served?
11 April 2013 at 2:48 am #108700Do i really have to explain, 1,stop the media from guessing like everyone else, jesus it cant be hard, millwall had no problems in letting people know,
11 April 2013 at 2:52 am #108702rossmci90 it is 90 mins wrong sport you knob
11 April 2013 at 3:02 am #108708I just don’t think we have enough people in wigan ,who like latics, to sell anywhere near 25,000.the ordinary folk of wigan who have no allegiance to latics, should at least support their town.they ought to be ashamed to call themselves wiganers.Do you lend your support to any of the town’s other sporting sides, like a ‘proper Wiganer’?
